2. How did you rise up to your position, and how can a student aspiring the same, approach it?

I was in the first year, then I hustle and explore a lot at that time along with my best friend. So we always intrigued to start something but the question is what??

After much introspection, we came up with an idea to start a society as there was no commerce society in our college. So we unofficially started student representative wing of the commerce department, i.e. unofficial commerce society in our college. Initially, we struggled a lot like approvals & permission and all, but then somehow we managed and successfully established an Official commerce society, i.e. Comhub after months of hard work.

I believe all the students who are currently in 1st and 2nd year should start exploring within and beyond the college. This is the best time to learn and execute. At times there is a lack of opportunities, likewise. But that is the moment to capitalize and create a chance for yourself and hundreds of others.

3. What's it like to juggle between a leadership role and normal college life?

That was the best moment and sweet juggle to enjoy with. Being a leader was undoubtedly a tough job, and it comes with consequences as well, but then you are capable of handling those things.

And as said, "With great power comes with great responsibilities" so leading the entire wing is a whole different story but being able to manage better.

For me, it's kind of 'Normal' where you hustle more, explore more, learn more and most importantly build a valuable atmosphere to grow from scratch.

Another best thing is you earn trust and support of faculties, classmates and friends with you. I was very grateful that the whole department was standing beside me stronger.

4. What have been some of your biggest challenges and learnings from what you do?

Well, challenges will always be there if you're bringing out changes. And leadership role is still the most challenging one, where you're dealing with elite students, teachers & support staff from across the country with a different mindset, culture and behaviour.

Another challenge was the administrative work, at times you have to convince even guard bhaiya. Being a President of society, you have to consistently act as a bridge between teammates and faculty.

I have learnt that with good or bad experiences, there will be great learning. So whatever you there's always learning behind it.

5. What are the top skills that you have learnt with what you do?

The essence of great leadership is influence, not authority. So I believe I have influenced my fellow mates to be the leader, not a follower.

With high confidence, communication, proper Management and Delegation, positive attitude, commitment and ownership been able to organize 25+ events, fests, seminars & conferences.

With all this great understanding of marketing helped me to raise massive sponsorship for the fest.

6. How can we encourage more young students, such as yourself, to take up leadership roles?

Every youngster should always be open for different ideas, activities and roles. For me, it was all about to explore, implement and learn. From there, it all can turn around the picture. No one is born leader, It's the change you bring in that makes you different from others. Grab all the opportunities, don't think about if's and but's, just get it done.

Lastly, an essential note to all the college students that this is the time to "make or break" don't lose this time and make it productive. Learn a new skill, explore, Google your problems, join youth forums, build LinkedIn and Twitter profile, increase your network, connect with like-minded or people who inspire you, start investing even a small step towards it, analyze the options, Look for real value addition.

Trust me "The best thing about YOU is YOU".
