“2020” is the year, we never imagined in our entire life. The fear of meeting people never existed like it prevails now with terms like “Social Distancing”, “Quarantine”, “Sanitization” and a lot more. We as a Social Animal loved social gathering. We enjoyed being with the crowd every odd weekend.

We love celebrating literally everything. From a baby shower to graduation parties, Fall to summer homecoming, theses are a tradition which we carried from our ancestors. Many of these events are traditions other pop culture.

Here are the top 5 weirdest festivals around the world which are carried forward till then.

1. Underwater Music Festival, US

This is a bizarre tradition which is originated to raise awareness for preserving the Florida Key’s coral reefs.

Divers and snorkelers play underwater in the Florida Keys each July dressed as fish and mermaids. Tons of people gather to enjoy this music festival as it signifies their local tradition established in the 1980s.




2. Monkey Buffet Festival, Thailand

Lopburi, one of the oldest towns in Thailand hosts a monkey buffet on the last Sunday of November each year.

Tales go by that the monkey brings good luck, so locals invite the long-tailed creature to come and enjoy the food in return of the good fortune. It’s a very interesting example of coexistence exhibited in the form of weird festivals.




3.Hair Freezing Contest, Canada 

February each year in the town of Whitehorse, Yukon, holds an annual International Hair Freezing Competition.

Around that time when the temperature is less than minus 15, enthusiastic people come out from to participate in this madness. Provided with takhini Hot pools to create their icy coiffures to provide sculpture to your hairs.




4. Boryeong Mud Festival, South Korea 

This festival began in the 1990s but gained popularity within a span of few years. Tourists and locals happily swim in mud during July every year.

The intention of this festival is to promote the region’s mud-based cosmetic products but emerged as a major tourist attraction. Daechoen Beach is covered with truckloads of mud where people enjoy mud wrestling, mud skiing, and even mud message.




5. Baby Jumping, Spain

Superstitious belief can never leave us alone even in the 21st century. The same goes for the baby jumping festival in Castrillo de Murcia, Spain. Since the 1600s this festival never went off their tradition.

During this festival named El Salto del Colacho, it is believed that when a man dressed as devil jumps over the baby to take ways the evil spirits in them, and bring prosperity. As much bizarre it sounds, people from around the region bring their babies and follow this tradition.
