1. Tell us about your background and journey.

I come from a very small town called Vapi. Its located in Gujarat and is about 3 hours away from Mumbai. I am an only child to my parents and was born and did my schooling from Vapi. For my Graduation, I came to Mumbai and started doing BMM in UPG college.

I did my PDGM in Advertising from MET college Bandra, then got campus placed in a media agency called Madison. When I came to Mumbai, I was very shy and low on confidence which was very unlike me but I think it was like a culture shock to me at that point of time.

I used to see all these “cool” kids in my college and used to feel very out of place. It’s like I had lost myself somewhere. I didn’t have the confidence to go and talk to people or even be myself in front of them. You could say that, I’d gone in some sort of a shell.

In school, I was somebody who was very popular, participated in all the extra-curricular activities and won many prizes in dance and elocution competition. But, this was till 9th std. I had a fight with one of my best friends in school and then my whole school life changed.

She came from a very rich and influential family in Vapi and hence all the students wanted to be her friend. I was sort of isolated in my school which affected my performance in studies, other activities and I had also gained a lot of weight.

This was also one of the reasons of me losing my confidence and not being myself during my high school & college days. The girl who was so popular and performed so well had become somebody who was never noticed by people, who didn’t participate in a single college fest!

I soo wanted to, but couldn’t gather the guts for the same. I used to see my college mates going for auditions for ad commercials and series, I wanted to do that too but again, never had the guts. But eventually, I decided to lose all my extra weight, groom myself and present myself well.

Things started getting better, I got a good job, I was performing well and then finally, I got a job in FilterCopy (Pocket Aces Pictures Pvt Ltd) as a Brand Solutions Associate.

That’s where some of colleagues who also used to direct FilterCopy videos asked me if I’d like to be a part of one of them and I was super excited! That video led to another and another and now I think I have done about more than 20 FilterCopy videos till now. It’s a totally different experience altogether.

2. Did you ever think or dream of being an actor?

Always. But I never thought that it would materialise and it still hasn’t yet. But I am really happy with whatever I am doing right now. It feels good to be loved and get such lovely messages from people, appreciating you and your work.

3. How can one approach their career and have the confidence and belief to become an actor?

It’s a long long way to go even for me, but its quite simple and very difficult at the same time:

1. Believe in YOU. Believe that YOU are capable of achieving what you are dreaming about.

2. Work towards it. Work towards yourself, groom yourself, gain some knowledge about the field, do some research, do your homework, don’t hesitate to reach out to people.

There will be rough patches, hold on, be patient and most importantly be consistent, be at it. Don’t give up.

4. If not this, what would you be doing?

Brand Solutions. I am still doing that. That’s my primary job lol.

5. For a compete outsider with inroads, what advice would you like to give?

It can be super difficult for a complete outsider, but not impossible for sure. As mentioned above, you need to gain the right knowledge about the field, about the right people, approach them with dignity, work on your talent.

6. What is your mantra of success?

Be consistent and have patience.

7. Which is your favorite book and why?

My Fav book is The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri, I love how she depicts the culture shock of the protagonists when they move from India to abroad and how they find it difficult to connect with their children who are completely born and brought up in this new environment.
