1. Tell us about your background and journey?
Hi, I am Surmeet Singh Basra and I belong to a filmy background. My parents S. Daljinder Basran and Mrs. Santosh basran are well known film and TV personalities. Even my sister Sukhmani has been a very good actress and singer. I was born and bought up in artistic environment.
2. Did you ever think or dream of being a actor?
Not exactly, I never thought of being an actor. I was fun loving and not serious towards acting. My Mom used to push me to act in two- three days which was directed by my Dad and that performance of mine was loved by everyone. Because of this play I got opportunity to play the role of childhood of my father in the film KAPTAAN. One thing led to another and here I am
3. How can one approach their career and have the confidence and belief to become an actor?
You can drive a car, only if you have learnt driving. Same is with acting. You have to own your skills in theatre if you want to be really confident in acting. To be confident never loose your own identity for anyone else in this industry. As there is a high competition in this industry many people starts comparing you with each other but for this you need to be patient enough and don't loose the real identity of yours hence have to be confident.
4. If not this, what would you be doing?
If not acting, I would be a business man.
5. For a complete outsider with inroads, what advice would you like to give?
For a complete outsider I think entering in this industry is quite difficult because the outsiders face many rejections in the beginning which may make their moral down but at the same time if they have confidence and passion for acting no one can stop them to enter this industry and yes no one can ignore the real talent.
6. What is you mantra of success?
My mantra for success is work and patience. There's not short cuts for the success
