1. Tell us about your background and journey.

My name is Sahil Chalotra. In my life, my mother's role is greater than my father's as he died 7 years back.  At that time, I had to leave my studies to do a small job for earning daily bread. I had a dream of becoming a model and actor one day, to shine my name in the whole world. And I am not at all hesitant to tell that I belong to a small village Lodhwan District Kangra in Himachal Pradesh where people have never thought of modelling and acting.

I was the first person who decided to pursue a career in this field and this decision was very challenging itself. I visited the event of Mr Himachal for the first time without informing my family. But I was rejected. Then I went to Mr. Punjab, I was rejected again. But even after getting rejected, i gained a lot more knowledge and experience. Later, I came to know about an event, Mr. Novelty organised in Novelty Mall in Pathankot.

Then I decided to try my luck again. Then I took some grooming lessons for that event and gratefully was awarded as Mr Photogenic. After that small achievement, my confidence boosted up to another level. Later, I again went to Mr Himachal's event. And unbelievably I won the 1st runner-up momento of Mr Himachal 2018.

Then, in 2019 I got winning title Mr IFF. Later I got titled as Mr India Exotic in 2019. It did not stop here, I continued winning many other awards as well. I’d also participated in runway like that of U&I, Australia Fashion Week, Dehradun Fashion Week. My journey also included collaboration with Manyavar, Fbb, Vanhussain Magazines. Right now I have started working in Bollywood as well.

2. Did you ever think or dream of being an actor?

Everyone has a dream for which people survive actually. Usually, people start trying and learning to make their dreams come true from the beginning. We see a lot of dreams, but we have to believe in ourselves that we can fulfil what we have dreamt and obviously we need to work hard and harder to make them happen. My dream is to become a supermodel.

3. How can one approach their career and have the confidence and belief to become an actor?

Acting is also like any other job or profession. If you aspire to become an actor or actress then you should try to study and gather the maximum possible knowledge and awareness about your field and acting. There are various courses if aspiring actors are interested else they can do theatres for gaining experience.

Once you start working in the real field, slowly and steadily you’ll start getting confidence automatically. The things which used to appear difficult would start seeming easier. So I would say just start doing, you’ll get doors open for yourself.

4. If not this, what would you be doing?

I would still try to achieve my goals in this field and won’t give up on my dreams because I was never taught to retreat.

5. For a complete outsider with inroads, what advice would you like to give?

Listen to everyone but do what you like. Because I believe it does not matter whether you are a good or bad soul, but people will do evil sadly. One more thing, you cannot do everything alone. Therefore, join or follow those who have achieved their destination in their life to get some inspiration and encouragement.

6. What is your mantra of success?

I trusted myself and kept working hard. It is not necessary to win every time, I have learned a lot even after losing.

7. Which is your favourite book and why?

The holy books, Ramayana and Mahabharata, because in these books there are many things that teach me the way of living a life.  Whenever I read them I feel stronger and get a direction to move forward in life.
