1. Tell me about you and your journey.

I did my Viscom from WCC and I was into photography but I was always passionate about makeup so I decided to do my Diploma in makeup from London college of makeup, and I decided to pursue makeup as my full-time career in 2017.

In the beginning, I started off by doing collaboration shoots with different photographers, stylists, and models, this helped me build my portfolio and my network and eventually it led to getting more clients and starting to work with renowned people in the industry.

2. Why did you choose this career?

I've always liked makeup and loved creating new looks and trying new products so instead of getting into a career that is not suitable for me, I thought why not get into something I love to do and I ended up being a makeup artist and I'm really happy that I did.

3. How can one build a clientele as a makeup artist?

As a beginner in the industry, you can intern under a makeup artist and learn how it works and start off by doing a lot of collaborations and shoot with photographers, stylists, and models.

And then start building your portfolio and network by promoting your work on social media channels which will help you get your clientele.

4. What are some of your top makeup tips?

My most top makeup tips are:
  1. Never skip skincare before makeup. Always cleanse, tone, and moisturize before starting the makeup.
  2. Always start with a little product and build it as you go.
  3. Always blend the products well, blending is the key.

5. What kind of job opportunities can one get after becoming a makeup artist?

There are a lot of avenues which you can focus on as an MUA, You can get into the Fashion industry if you love doing creative and editorial looks, and bridal makeup is another option which is also really good or you can actually do both it all depends on the interest of the individual.

If the Artist knows VFX and prosthetics there is a very good scope in the media and cinema industry.

6. Which professional courses would you suggest for aspiring artists?

A course is not mandatory to be an MUA. The best way to learn makeup would be by attending a lot of workshops and masterclasses with pioneers in the industry and start practicing. The practice is the key.
