7 Fun Ways to Relieve Stress

All of us encounter stress on a daily basis. It may be work-stress, exam-stress, family-stress, or even stress from our overthinking. Prolonged stress can cause adverse effects on your health.

Over stressing can even lead to being a cause of your death. We all know stress isn’t avoidable, but at least we can release our stress rather than letting it accumulate and cause really harmful effects for us mentally, physically, and in our relationships.

So, some of the easy and fun ways through which we can release this stress on a daily basis are:

1. Listening to Music

Music releases stress. But the choice of music is important. Turning on any music just won’t do the magic. Listening to fun, energetic music pumps up adrenaline making your body feel energetic and motivates you.

Sad, rock, and grunge songs actually, just either disturb your body or make you think things that might cause stress. I would suggest you listen to songs like:
  • Happy by Pharell Williams
  • Soy yo by Bomba Estereo
  • Say Hey (I Love You) by Michael Franti Spearhead
  • Waka Waka by Shakira  and many more.

2. Reading

By reading I don’t mean a novel or a story book, it can be anything. A novel, short story, news, something about your favourite artist/actor/scientist or maybe even about the breakthroughs or controversies. This is because reading actually relaxes your brain and takes you to a parallel universe.

3. Dancing: Shake off the Stress

Not everyone knows dancing and when I say dancing I don’t mean some professional high-end dancing. Just switch on a groovy music and shake your hips. Let loose and go with the beat. You will feel so good. Dancing in songs with high beats or even jumping just releases your stress.

What more do you need? Dancing that releases your stress and burns your calories at the same time.

4. Take a Hot Bath

A hot relaxing bath works for everything- relaxing your body, releasing stress or simply cleaning yourself. It’s a multi-purpose activity which does exactly what’s required. Along with it if you add a scented candle its much more relaxing.

5. Go for a Long Drive

In a metropolitan city, going for long drives is difficult because of the traffic havoc. But you could still find some highway or night time to go for a long drive with a friend, spouse, family or alone. Also instead of turning on the AC, open the window especially if it’s the night time. It feels really refreshing.

6. Go for a Walk

This can be done anywhere - workplace, house, or even if you are in a hotel. Just get out of the place where you are sitting, plug in your earphones, put on some music and go for a walk. Give yourself the time to rejuvenate yourself from stressful situations by taking in the fresh air.

7. Write in Your Diary or Talk to Someone

Some people can’t find themselves at ease even after doing these many things. The last but not the least they can write down their emotions causing stress and let it go. Writing a diary has some very effective benefits.

Others can talk to their closed and trusted someone who can understand and has patience.

After doing all of these things, if you still can’t release that stress; please visit a psychologist before it affects your mental health even more. Mental health is very important for everyone irrespective of the age. So please take a good care of yourself and your mental health.
