New Features Introduced in 2019

On 17th October 2019, San Francisco-headquartered work management
platform Asana announced the introduction of a new feature, Automation.

Its latest group of features were built in a way that it facilitated to automate processes to help teams focus on the work that matters. It aimed at repetitive duties from the average working day.

What Is Automation?

For the teams looking to cut down on time spent working on coordinating
emails, spreadsheets and meetings, Asana has offered their new feature,
Automation. Asana Automation aims to cut down the time spend on other things rather than the job they have been hired to do.

It enables individuals, teams and organizations to try and retrieve wasted time by improving efficiency and productivity with the introduction of the new features called Rules, Vision and Voice.

What Is Asana Rules?

Rules is a feature that helps several businesses computerize the manual
steps related to work intake, task routing and agile workflows.

This is backed up by an intuitive custom Rules builder, which allows workers to route new tasks to the right team members at the right time with curated options that are set beforehand or a simple fill-in-the-blank editor.

What Is Asana Voice and Vision?

Asana’s Voice and Vision feature are useful for customers who use the company’s app available on iPhones. The Voice feature allows an individual to capture and record a voice message and send it directly into an Asana task.

The Vision Feature uses optical character recognition. It can capture a real-time image clicked on an iPhone, like a diagram on a whiteboard and automatically assign the appropriate subtasks in Asana based on the text in the image.

The Reason Behind Introducing Automation

According to a study launched by Asana, called the Anatomy of Work Index, almost eighty-three per cent of employees believed that their teams are not living up to its full efficiency potential.

The survey of 10,000 workers across Australia, Japan and Germany, New Zealand, the UK and the US proved that workers believed that they spent at least ten per cent of their time on pure duplication of effort.

This would hint that around two hundred hours are going to waste per person each year. Therefore, to cut down the time employees wasted on other tasks, Asana came up with the Automation feature which would allow them more time in their schedule to do their jobs.

Who Can Access This New Feature?

This product or service is accessible to all customers subscribed to Asana’s Premium, Business and Enterprise plans.

Growth in Dublin Branch

According to Alex Hood the CPO of Asana, the company (Asana) which surpassed $100 Million in annual recurring revenue in 2018, is growing at 90 per cent year on year.

“We now have 70,000 paying organizations and millions of free customers. We have an expanding and growing team,” he added.

He further commented that the company’s global headcount was growing by around 70 per cent each year and currently have more than six hundred employees.

“We’re going to double our team in Dublin from 50 to 100 this year, which
is exciting. Dublin went from being a regional office to being an important
centre of how we are building this category and changing the way that
folks are working in Europe,” he said.

Hood said that Asana aims to continue expanding and hiring for its Dublin
offices.
