Five Electrifying Features of Tesla Model 3

The start of the 21st century initiated the space exploration boom. Movies like Star Trek, Star Wars made us a thing about the unexplored space, planets, extraterrestrial beings. The century is also full of exciting inventions, new technologies, and many more things. 

This century was the start of great visionary and extraordinary entrepreneur Elon Musk. Entrepreneurs were considered to be profit-focused but, this man changed the sight. Elon focused on Space exploration, Solar power, and the new world of electrical cars i.e. EVs. 

A decade back no one thought that cars might run on electricity. But the founder of SpaceX, Tesla, Hyperloop, Solar City challenged the thoughts of Millennials. Elon musk's Net worth being in Billions, the man continued to overwhelm thought of people. 

Talking about SpaceX and his other works will be a long story. So focusing on the EVs and the most important, the all-electric car company, Tesla is becoming popular land building it’s all electric empire. Tesla had a rough journey as a company but its Model S and Model 3 boomed it.

After the success of the Model S, Tesla's plan was to launch a more affordable car to a regular consumer. So Model 3 was launched in mid-2017 but the official delivery happened on 28 July 2017.

As of March 2020, the Tesla Model 3 is the world's best-selling electric car in history, with more than 500,000 units delivered. Model 3 is also the best plugin car in many countries where it was released. The price is slightly higher but its performance and service cost makes it the best affordable car to have. 

Model 3 comes in 4 variants - Standard Range, Standard Range Plus, Mid Range, and Long Range. The price range varies from $35000 to $55000 from Standard one to the Long Range. The performance of cars also varies concerning each variant. 

Basically, Model 3 is a 4-door sedan, its Range varies from 220 miles(354 km) to 322 miles(518 km). With the high efficiency of 25-30 kWh/100 miles making them way ahead of its competitors. If you want to have this one, you can actually buy it from Tesla's online store from just any household.

While ordering, Tesla offers you the freedom to customize your car from given color variants and different interiors as well as wheels. Model 3 offers control of its functions and car systems via smartphone applications.

Having many well known competitors like Jaguar I-PACE, Mini, Chevy bolt, the competitors fall by a very big margin to perform as Tesla. 

EVs were infamous for low range and long charging time, but these factors are washed off by Tesla, thus creating these cars most affordable, user friendly, and also its direct selling plans cuts off various noise in between.

Prime Features of Model 3

1. Affordable Cost:

Many of you might just disagree with this point. Though Model 3 is costlier than many gasoline cars, its definitely affordable. It actually runs with almost zero cost - though electricity usage at home will cost you to pay. The supercharging stations will provide you with the free charging cost. 

But, on comparison with gasoline, your 90% of fuel cost will be reduced or actually vanished. If you think maintenance will be high then think again, on an average it will cost you around $2000 every 5 years or will be very less than that. 

Car upgrades are almost free as it offers 4 years warranty or 50,000-mile warranty on a car. This period is greater than many electronics in the house!

2. Autopilot:

Yes, Autopilot is no more a feature of just planes, the self-driving cars are a reality now and are landed on the roads. But this feature has some limitations, cars can only be driven on Autopilot mode on highways only. 

The autopilot advanced safety and convenience features assist you while providing ease of driving. It also has 360 degrees visibility and 160m forward-facing radar which detects some of the obstacles even before we can react. Its ultrasonic feature also provides an edge over to its safety.

3. Safety:

While buying most of car, safety is the last feature we think about. But that’s the specialty of Tesla of doing what others will ever think. Tesla is the safest car you will ever drive. 

Its body, its sensors makes the car child safe, and making it a great family-friendly car but at the same time with a great performance. 

Its aluminum and steel structure gives the maximum strength. In one of the tests called the roof-crush test, Model 3 resisted four times its own weight that too by an all-glass roof car (that’s the weight of two full-grown elephants). 

It is also the best performing car with five stars received from NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, USA) in almost every category. It scored 94% in crash tests by Euro NCPA. So being glamorous, EV Model 3 is a piece of exciting safety equipment.

4. Performance:

The model has two engine variants i.e. Single motor and dual motor(available only in Long Range and performance Variant). As the variant increases its power rise from 283hp up to as high as 450hp for the last variant. The torque rises 450 N/m to 650 N/m. 

The top each speed starting from standard range to long-range, it varies from 130 mph(209 km/h) to 162 mph (261km/h). Acceleration for its performance variant is 3.0 seconds to reach 0-60 mph (97km/h). This attracts a majority of sports car lovers towards tesla. 

Thus along with safety, performance, and technology, it attracts consumers from every genre of a car.

5. Battery and Charging Speed:

The major concern about an electric vehicle is its battery life and charging speed. The battery problem took a long time to get resolved at Tesla but the same solution made it to beat up the majority of competitors which are almost a decade behind Tesla. 

Lithium-ion batteries produced at Gigafactories of Elon Musk are the core of the Model 3. EVs used to have low run time making them incompatible with gasoline cars, but now, they are the new Trend. Battery capacity varies from 50 kWh, 54 kWh, 62 kWh, and 74 kWh for its all variants.

The charging time to fully charge the battery is around 6.5 hours which was reduced from around 12 hours. It can be charged both with AC and DC charging. For making Tesla cars efficient, supercharging stations that are free of cost are installed at almost all highways. 

This supercharging for 15 minutes can ride you Model 3 to a distance of 180 miles which makes them super-efficient.

So Is Tesla Model 3 Really Worth Its Price?

The answer to this question is pretty yes! The affordability of the car along with its sporty performance makes it a dark horse in the Car Manufacturing Industry. So there has started typically an Era of electric cars and soon will be reaching every corner of the world. 

One of the underlying features of Tesla is that the services have over-the-air software updates. As soon as the system picks up some problems, it gets upgraded while you are just sleeping. This results a huge cut-off in service charges. 

For luxury, Tesla’s now offering luxury interior as an add on while ordering your own Tesla. Model 3’s rapid success is a sign towards the electrical era of cars.
