I turn towards nature and travel to get inspired. Landscapes, people, their stories, different cultures are just a small variety of things that I put down on paper.
1. Tell us more about your background and journey.
So, ever since I was a child I had a very strong inclination towards making something even if it was to get my hands dirty in the mud, making sculptures of my imaginary friends or scribbling on the walls of my house and being scolded by my mother for that.
It all started with creating pieces of artwork as a hobby but soon changed into something I wanted to do every day.
I enjoyed replicating whatever I could observe or imagine on a piece of paper and add my perspective to it.
It is this freedom of creative expression that makes me want to indulge in it a little more every day.
I've had formal training in art & craft only till school but otherwise, I am a self-taught artist.
With the rapidly changing technology, a completely new channel for artists/crafters like me opened up and there is no stopping since. there is something new to learn every day. For me, it started from making a Facebook page, learning how e-commerce functions, or what Instagram is.
2. When did you decide you wanted to be an artist?
Like I said before when I started to enjoy art as a way of expressing myself, that's when I decided to be an artist. Paintings are a true reflection of an artist's heart.
3. Is it a financially stable career?
Everything takes time, only recently have I started taking workshops and commissioned art projects but I still take it up more like a hobby.
4. Who is your favorite artist and why?
It's very difficult to pinpoint only one artist since there is so much to learn from all of them. Every artist has their individuality, techniques & choice of colours which is influential. However, the work of some artists that influence me is Claude Monet, Milind Mallick, and a few more.
5. Where do you get inspired to create art?
I turn towards nature and travel to get inspired. Landscapes, people, their stories, different cultures are just a small variety of things that I put down on paper. Almost everything or everyone has multiple stories attached to them. It is an artist's job to bring that under the spotlight a specific perspective or highlight a particular story.
6. What does your typical day look like?
I am a tea-taster by profession and Tea is my lifeline. Most of my day go around tasting tea and tending to some other chores in the company but apart from that I usually wind up my day by brainstorming about what I can create or read.
7. What piece of advice would you like to give to future aspiring painters/artists?
In whatever experience that I have gained, I would only like to say that consistency is key and not just in art but in whatever you choose to do.
It takes a great deal of courage to show up every day and that's what you have to keep doing.
