Poetry As An Expression of Thought

To all the loved ones we have lost...
To all the bonds we could not restore...
To all the words that remained unspoken...

Sometimes, we become victims of unspoken feelings. Sometimes, words do fail to make their way into an audible range. A blend of love, hate, anxiety, heartbreak, happiness, and sadness results in the disappearance of the power of speech.

Poetry is an expression of thought. It leaves its impact on every generation. The world is a wonderful place, both with its flaws and beauty. It symbolizes the significance of life and the afterlife. Poetry can also be defined as a way to praise the common things around us.

Poetry helps us to cherish the unnoticed miracles happening in our daily lives.

Power to Change Mind

Crypted messages, rebellious statements, and outspoken emotions have always been conveyed via poetry. Poetry is a witness to the fact that rhythm is capable of changing the perspective of its audience. Poetry possesses the power to change a person's state of mind.

The Elizabethan era has seen the rise and downfall of the central theme of poetry. The voice of a poet's heart is listened to by millions, through the penned emotions. History has witnessed the usage of poetry as a weapon to control human dilemmas.

On one hand, poetry can motivate you to the extent that you might forget every problem you ever faced in your life. On the other hand, poetry can drown you into the ocean of guilt, making you believe that the wine of death is sweeter than the honey of life.

Poetry has given birth to immortal characters whose stories touch the core of human life.

Answer to Unanswered Questions

From the admiration of nature to the rage of natural calamities, from the pride of war to the destruction caused by war, from developing love to the aftereffects of loss of love - poetry has successfully portrayed every thought. Poetry is the partner of our loneliness and the answer to our unanswered questions.

Poetry is an escape from the harsh reality. Its appealing nature has changed the lives of many. It softens the heart of the bitter minded and also provides strength to the soft-hearted. It motivates you to let things go but also provokes you to extract revenge.

Poetry is the most powerful part of Literature in English, and poets are the unofficial rulers of this world.

Poetry Remains

Several researchers have concluded that poets die early. The main reason of this early death is estimated to be their thought of self-destruction and their frustration to convey their thoughts to the world. The famous poet of the 20th century Sylvia Plath's best poem was her death note.

She had committed suicide by inserting her head into the oven, at her house. In her last poem, often referred to as her suicide letter, she not only stated that she was unafraid of death but also addressed death as the best possible thing she could ever experience.

With poetry, comes criticism. Criticizing a poem indirectly questions the poet's beliefs. Sometimes criticism of poetry leads to a war of words that brings forth several points for and against the main theme of the poem. For me, poetry is an entry ticket to an alternative reality where the world is a better place to live in.

From Shakespeare to Wordsworth, and from Keats to Frost, every word penned down by the poets connects with each and every soul present in the various parts of the world, struggling to fight the existential crisis in their own lives. Time flies away, and mortals die, but poetry remains...
