If you're trying so hard to read, but lengthy books are just not your jam don't worry we have your back. A great number of willing-to-be readers have the interest, yet they don't know how to start. Often because of some misconceptions surrounding this topic, since the common thought is "if you hold a book in your hand, you're an intellectual individual". Well, not really. You can still be cool and educated both at the same time even if you're not really holding a book in your hand. Don't believe it? Stick around and check those alternatives out!
1. Comics - Comics are the best substitute for someone who is still taking baby steps in the world of reading. What makes this such a great option for those wannabe readers is the fact that it comes with drawings. Yes, drawings and this is a complete game-changer for those who get bored or even lose their focus easily; as you are enjoying words and pictures simultaneously. This helps with the attraction goals because it simplifies the understanding process and makes it a great option, especially for young readers and teens. However, you have to make sure your choices are in accordance with your age since some of them could be rated and not suitable yet for your age group.
2. Poetry and Quotes - So what if you're someone who finds their escape in literature, but you are not into those super long novels? Or simply put, you don't have the time to even if you want to. So does that mean you sit with your legs crossed doing nothing? Nope! Poetry and quotes are your best options; as they hold the world of literature tightly in just a few words. That alone is an extraordinary skill that isn't found easily, and people often remember them thanks to how short they could get. It's true that some old English poems could be long, but no matter how long they can get they're still shorter than a book and have their thing with elite readers.
3. Blog posts - With the world going online, bloggers and blog posts are becoming a thing now more than ever. What makes those posts get the liking of so many readers is their widespread accessibility. Blog posts can be read on the blog itself or on other platforms. How? You'll ask, simple I will tell you. Almost every blog post comes with a sharing button nowadays. So, if you like a post all that you have to do is share it on any social platform that you like. Hence, many of your friends can easily be introduced to the posts you like and perhaps help them get a better understanding of who you are and the topics that you are into.
4. Newspapers - Newspapers are usually the go-to option for adults and more mature readers. The reason behind this is the nature of the content they advertise. Unlike poetry, quotes, and novels what's inside an article is something real happening somewhere in the world near you, or even far from you. That's why if you're someone who is all about being alert and aware of what's happening around the globe, this option is more than great for you honestly. The best part is that you get to read the papers or the online version of the news similarly to blog posts.
5. Other resources - Some other resources are not so clear to the eye even though they exist right before your eyes. Things like watching your favorite TV shows with subtitles instead of only listening. Or reading some magazines of your preference; thus killing your time and two birds in one stone. The list includes other things like signs, manuals, letters, posts, comments, letters...etc.
I bet some of these were news to you, but don't worry now that you have grasped the knowledge about how to expand your reader's knowledge through other methods that are not book-related. I am expecting you to be on your way of learning so much more with those eyes of yours. Remember where there is a word, there is something to learn, something to read, and something to remember. If you still have the will to learn more check some others ways out too.
