Romantic drama Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum starring Karan V Grover and Dipika Kakar Ibrahim in the lead roles has gone off-air. The show initially started with a load of promises as it was portraying a unique love story between a surgeon and an actress. But the makers decided to pull the plug. It was one of the most loved and viewed shows on the smallscreen in recent times.
As the news broke out about the show going off-air; there were sad and shocked reactions that came out from the fans of that show. The show had its first episode in the last year on the 17th of June and its last on the 14th of March in 2020.
It featured Dipika Kakar as Sonakshi Rastogi and Karan V Grover as Dr/Surgeon Rohit Sippy. Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum was a breath of fresh air for the Indian audience as it was a break from the stereotypical
saas-bahu sagas.
Though
as the show progressed the fresh new air really suffocated under the pressure of TRP and
ratings and the makers and writers of the show were under pressure to make the show
more stereotypical with the help of which they kept a high TRP in between 1.8-2.0
throughout.
According to the producer of the show, the show never had a higher rating than 1.8-2.0 but when they mixed up some drama during the wedding of Sonakshi the rating went up boosting into 2.6. So, the makers dragged it dramatically to a point of no return.
Initially, the makers had promised to keep the story as real as possible as this was one of the sole reasons behind the popularity of the show. This garnered them a lot of positive response and attention.
But in reality, the show soon succumbed to the pressures of maintaining the TRP and this resulted in the show getting led on to a similar scenario like any other daily soap.
Though in the starting the leads of
the show needed time to gel in, once they sank into the character the chemistry was fully loved by the viewers of the show and the makers saw
them as a new iconic couple on the small screen.
And
as said earlier the show had a good TRP rating when the other shows on Star Plus
were running on and around a rating of 1 or below KHKT was
running on and around a rating of 2.
But
as per some sources suggests that the lease of the Set for the show ran out, the producers
were given a notice of a week to vacant the place and the makers needed to wrap the show as soon as possible in a very positive way.
Though the news was sudden and also a very shocking one to the whole team as the show had a very good viewership but as the reality sunk in they needed to wrap it
up within a week.
The
fans of the show have been pleading to the makers of the show to review their decision of
plugging off the show but these efforts went in vain. The last episode of KHKT has gone on
air on 14th March after which Rajan Shahi’s new show ‘Anupamaa’,
featuring Rupali Ganguly has replaced it. The fans are surely
going to miss seeing the epic Jodi of Rohit and Sonakshi or as they
called it ‘Ronakshi’ on TV.
