1. Tell us about your background and journey.
I originally grew up in Lahore, Pakistan and moved to Canada for University and have been living here since. The length of my journey depends which scope one looks at it from, on one hand I’ve been rapping for over 10 years now with little recognition, it’s still my biggest passion to this date, on the other hand I randomly decided to make Tiktoks to pass the time around this time last year and unexpectedly went viral! I have been amassing a steady following since then.
2. When did you first decide that you wanted to create content and how did you start?
It was literally on a whim. I can’t truly pinpoint it but my friend was showing me a Tiktok he made for fun, the content of which was basically an inside joke, and I found it so fun! I was like hey I can do that! And so I did and I guess it stuck.
3. Is content creation a financially sustainable career?
NOT YET! HAHA. But in all seriousness though I think there’s definitely a financially sustainable aspect to it. It seems a bit harder considering how diluted the market is, but you can capitalize on it I guess.
4. Who is your favorite creator and why?
I literally have too many favorites to name…. Rishi Puff, Vishnu Kaushal, Srishti Dixit, Santu Misra, Zunaiir, Ramis Ansari, Pahari Kawa, Mina Hasan, Xnisa Malik…. And this is just to name a few! The list could go on and on.
5. How and where do you find inspiration to churn out content?
I literally have no idea. It keeps changing? I used to actively look for it but now it’s like… I’ll just randomly get an idea and try to jot it down so I have a list of things I can look through and which one is the funniest or most convenient to shoot.
6. Which is your favorite book and why?
I have two favorite books I can’t decide between. The first is The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy, which is still the only book that I have not only re-read but also laughed out loud reading. It’s extremely witty, I caught myself picking up sly digs and clever jokes in the second and third read that I completely glossed over initially.
The other book I consider my favorite is a complete 180, it’s Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky. One of the hardest books I ever read, emotionally draining to the point where there were days I couldn’t read more than a chapter. All the characters were so profound in their own way. Prior to reading this book, I wasn’t aware that a book could illicit such emotions.
7. What piece of advice would you like to give to future and aspiring creators?
Literally just do it, you’ll figure out if you are meant to be doing it eventually, but at least try. There’s literally no harm! Also, invest in good lighting.
