1. Tell us about your background and journey.
I come from a super simple background. A middle-class family, migrating from a village to a city with absolutely nothing, learning how to survive in minimalist conditions, and learning to make the most of it - that's what my childhood was.
No matter how tough we'd be - financially - our parents never let us feel that pressure. And somewhere, it was this selflessness that they had which instilled an urge within us to GIVE BACK to them, one way or the other - be it academically in school, or financially in the present.
The Journey has been so vast that it's almost impossible to condense it down within one paragraph (that's probably why I'm writing a book on it too! haha)
But yes, it's been beautiful.
The journey of growing from an introvert to a public speaker, To a Timid and tiny shy kid to a Strong and Bold Public Figure, Its been absolutely incredible.
2. What type of content do you enjoy producing the most and is the most challenging?
The content that I enjoy producing the most is hands down, Stories. Films and Vlogs that have Stories in them. Stories that convey emotions, feelings, messages - that are beyond our understanding to put down.
And that's what I feel, is the most challenging as well - capturing RAW and ABSTRACT emotions and finding a way to express them, on the screen.
That's the real challenge.
3. Do you prefer digital as a medium or do you enjoy doing live gigs more and why?
I am the one for the stage!
Given any day I would prefer being on stage and doing my thing live. And part of it has to do with the way I was brought up in School.
I am addicted to the stage, I am addicted to the rush that comes with it, the adrenaline that it fills your veins with, the applause, the reaction, I am addicted to every bit of it.
The way I get to interact with the audience, The control I have - over my own self and the entire auditorium - it's as much of a responsibility as a Power it feels, and it's beautiful and wholesome!
Can't wait to get back on stage.
4. What do you think resonates with your 115+K subs on YouTube?
I am Raw and Original.
No kidding - the person that you see on YouTube is the real Paritosh Anand as well.
Paritosh Anand loves to goof around, have fun, be there for the people that he loves and inspire people through the lessons that he has learned in his life as well.
Paritosh is not perfect, and he never backs from admitting it. That's what makes people relate to him the most. That he is who he is.
5.People, who are interested in taking up stand-up comedy as a profession, do they need a funny bone or they can develop one?
See, I'm not funny. I never was funny.
All I know is that I love to goof around - and that's what entertains people around me, that's what keeps them happy and my purpose is solved.
Similarly, never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I'd be able to talk to the camera, the way I do now - but I developed it with practice.
So ... to answer your question, yes, a funny bone always helps - but not having one doesn't take away all your chances of becoming a good Stand-Up Comedian.
Practice, Hang out with the right people, Learn the basics, Apply them on stage - and there you go!
7. What was your TEDx talk about? What idea did you share?
I am someone who preaches Dreams.
My Life has worked around the single and sole element of Dreams and me working my ass off to make them come true.
Being an Academically Achieving kid in high school - I was always expected to have taken a career stream in Engineering, or Medicals.
But I always had something else in my mind. I wanted to pursue Arts.
Although I had to put up a real fight, make some really tough decisions of letting go of stable careers like The Indian Defence Forces, go through some real tough phases after being socially boycotted and isolated from my entire family and friends ... yet, I just closed my eyes and kept taking tiny toddler steps closer to my dreams.
And that was the idea that I shared in my TEDx Talk as well. That no matter what society tells you if it's your dream, ITS YOURS TO KEEP. Nobody can take that away from you.
All of it comes down to these small steps you take towards your dreams.
These small steps in the little picture, make all the difference in the larger picture.
That was the idea of the talk, and that is the idea of the message that I want to put out to the world as well.
8. What impact do you want to make in this world?
I just want to make it easier for people to Believe.
Believe in themselves, in their Dreams, in their Ability to Make those Dreams Come True.
I want them to see my work, see me travel, see me run after my dreams, and give all that I have - so that they feel this urge within them, that "If this 21-year-old kid can do it, what's stopping us?"
That's what I want to be. That's the image I want to put out to the world.
There's a reason I am called THE SAME OLD KID WITH A DREAM.
I want the entire world to know of it, and carry this legacy forward together - the Legacy of all of us following our Purpose, Our Source of Happiness, and making this world an altogether better place to breathe in!
No one wants to hear you cry about your boss!
We want to hear the stories and adventures of your life.
Let's fill your life with them?
9. Which is your favorite book and why?
My all-time favorite book has to be Kevin Hart's Autobiography - "I Can't Make This Up"
The amount of fire that this book filled me up with, The amount of impact it had on me, The amount of challenges it gave to my perspective - it was an incredible journey reading that book.
Moreover - Kevin Hart has always been a figure I've looked up to.
The way he's risen from nothing to creating a WORLDWIDE EMPIRE of his own - absolute madness.
My second favorite book has to be one that's yet to be published, but one that's going to have the same amount of impact on the lives of many others.
It's called "THE IMPORTANCE OF DREAMS" written by this kid called Paritosh Anand.
You know of him? haha
You will ... soon.
