1. Tell us more about yourself and your profession.
I'm Pranit Shilimkar. I've been in the fitness industry since 2013. Eventually, I completed my nutrition course. Consequently, I also gained expertise in physiotherapy and special population (dealing with pathologies and injuries) followed by a master trainers course.
Now, I'm the sole founder member of Fitness Talks India, and we are an organisation that specialises in online physical fitness consultancy.
2. What is your fitness mantra?
Lifestyle is the biggest medicine.
3. What are some of major misconceptions about diets and exercises?
The biggest myth is that people are under the impression that they only have to follow the diet and exercise regime till they reach their physical fitness goal. For them, physical fitness is more about looking fit than actually feeling or being fit. They have a certain body composition in mind, and once they achieve it, they fall off their wagon. Most people only follow an event-specific diet and exercise routine.
4. How can one maintain a healthy lifestyle?
Simple discipline and a regular routine like not skipping your meals, exercising regularly, and following a fixed workout timing, followed by a good sleeping schedule can go a long way in establishing a healthy lifestyle.
Healthy lifestyle basically implies that you do not have any metabolic problems; so exercise, nutrition, and ample rest for recovery are a sure shot tripod way of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
5. How can one build a successful career in your field?
Firstly, you need to know that having some kind of basic exercise and nutrition knowledge (which you can learn in certain physical fitness institutions) is extremely important. Once you get the proper education, you're good to go and you can enter the field. Apart from that, failure and experiences teach you a lot. Don't ignore them.
6. What is one piece of advice you would like to give someone who wishes to lose weight?
If you want to lose weight remember that exercise and eating healthy should become a lifestyle. It should feel effortless, like brushing your teeth. That can only happen through discipline and patience. It should not feel like a burden for you, it should inspire you and it should also be fun to follow.
7. How do diets and exercise contribute to overall well being and happiness?
When you maintain a good diet and exercise, you're going to welcome discipline and patience in your life. Automatically, it'll reward you with focus, and focus goes a long way in achieving your other goals and staying happy.
Other key factors are consistency, sense of achievement, and challenging yourself. Diets and exercise ensures that you tick all three boxes, which can make you a better and healthier individual.
