The art of creating something on a canvas which is a blank itself and then making it your own. Its a beautiful process so I think that sort of brought me to this conclusion that I should just make this thing and call people and share and that is how my workshop started.
1. Tell us about you and your passion for art as how it started?
Myself, Sneha Chakraborty. I'm an interior designer and I didn't realize the passion for art until I got a call from NGO asking me if I can paint a wall in the slum of Khar as he liked my paintings which I casually posted on social Media.
The first day I went to the slum, they provided me a huge wall. After brain storming, I started painting & saw kids gathering around. Slowly we started sharing lunch and dreams. As I got closer to finish the painting, I realized that my mural started to bring a change in the society.
People started keeping the place clean, it became a space for evening meeting spots. It didn't take much long to get the tourists interested. Art has the power to modify a society. That wall made me come back home and plan on how to earn out of my passion.
2. Tell us more about your workshop 'letsbeecanvas'
When I just started painting on walls I found that something was missing in me which I found in art, the containment, the happiness just to be happy with the way I am and to be happy with what I am, that I could never feel before starting my painting and loving the process and everything, so I thought if I can find that I can help others find that too.
I mean its something that I wanted to share by calling few people and painting with them so I didn't think of making it as a business or making it as a proper vertical in my company. I just wanted to share the happiness with others so what happened is that I called few friends in Mumbai and I told them that I will provide the canvas and lets just socialize it.
It started with sharing their thoughts and just putting it in a blind canvas so after that 3 hours session together how I saw them before that and how I saw them after painting I could see a lot of difference in them. They felt free, happier and they were just extremely content and were feeling amazing.

3. How do you plan to take your workshop ahead?
Now we are over 105 workshops old and people have seen the process and they love coming over. Once the pandemic is over and once we are back to normal I would love to go back to workshop not only it gives others happiness also because it gives me a lot of happiness by seeing others feel is something that I feel too and that's a beautiful connection and I simply like it.
4. What are the works you do?
It is a company of art where we do all sorts of artistic work. We have three categories:
- First we paint mural
- Art workshop which is very close to my start. I started it when I was in Bombay and now we are 105 workshops old. We provide a space to paint for everyone may it be a artists and non artists. That was a very good community that we formed but unfortunately due to pandemic it has stopped
- The last is AR something related to Augmented Reality where my Partner Sharma creates an art work on canvas and then he uses this augmented reality application and I think that is something wonderful that would do good in the future
These are the things that we are currently working on. It is basically all about boosting artists like gathering together and changing the mentality of the opinion that has been indulged on many artists. My idea is to change this and make art not only a hobby but also a profession where we can explore many beautiful things in it.
