Yoshita Harchandani - Passion, Paired With Patience, Can Turn Out to Be Fruitful

I believe anything that one does should involve passion; otherwise, it’s just a waste of time if you don’t enjoy doing your work. Yes, food blogging can become a full-time career.

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

I always wanted to do something into blogging & digital world. I started pursuing my digital marketing course & also found a passion for food blogging. I always loved & enjoyed trying new places & food and hence wanted to make it reach to a broader audience.

It all started back in mid-2019. While talking to my friends at some random restaurant, I thought of starting off with an Instagram page. And that’s when ‘Hungry Ghosts Mumbai’ came into existence, which focuses on affordable & great places to explore that won’t burn a hole in anyone’s pocket!

2. Which is your favourite cuisine and dish?

I always love to eat & explore different kinds of cuisines. I can’t select any specific favourite as it always depends on my mood. I would enjoy eating Italian or Chinese at a good restaurant with great ambience or just be free & hog onto to the flavourful North Indian & street food.

3. Should food blogging be just a passion, or can it become a stable career?

I believe anything that one does should involve passion; otherwise, it’s just a waste of time if you don’t enjoy doing your work. Yes, food blogging can become a full-time career.

However, one needs to know that this is an adventurous ride with many ups & downs. You need to keep your focus right & work hard towards the goal. Passion, paired with patience, can turn out to be fruitful.

4. Which restaurants/food joints would you recommend to food lovers?

Being a Mumbaikar, street food is the best thing to try. Explore Ghatkopar Khau Galli – a paradise for vegetarians, Mohammad Ali Road (Khau Galli) – not to miss the coconut punch there at Pappu Juice Center, Mulund Khau Galli – where the hawkers offer the best of the street food flavours. Try out the unique Lays dosa at Bliss Veg Resto & the famous Ice Bhel at Jai Jalaram stall.

Talking about restaurants for friends & family to hang out & chill, I would recommend Light House Café at Worli, Mongo at Bandra, The Big Small Café & Bar at Andheri, Pure Milk Center at Ghatkopar, Food Studio Mulund to name a few. These places have great ambience with super delicious food & an impressive menu to offer.

And the list goes on, I would suggest you visit my Instagram handle @hungryghostsmumbai for more such recommendations.

5. What makes you appreciate a particular dish or a restaurant and talk about it on your blog?

The experience one can get right from stepping into the restaurant till the time one leaves. The ambience, presentation, service, affordability & of course the taste is what matters the most. All these elements are kept in mind before recommending any place to our audience.

6. Is there a dish you particularly associate yourself with?

I would go for Panipuri – the best Indian street food. Why? I am sweet at times and spicy (angry) at times, and that’s what makes me and my life.
