Divas Gupta - Create Because You Love To Not Because You Have To (Content Creator, International Public Speaker, Communication Coach)

Divas Gupta

In the last 10 years of success and learning, I realized the power of doing than just thinking. Today, I am a summation of what I did, and whom I spent my time with.

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

Like (almost) every Indian, I am an engineer turned MBA but super proud of the journey.

Founded a company, went broke, tweaked things, hustled, made millions within months, and above all impacted 700,000 lives from across 14+ countries.

I was never that confident, dynamic and enterprising individual that the world sees me today. Yes! It has been an exciting journey - From being a shy, introverted child who could not even speak his name properly, forget about speaking a sentence, to someone today who as an International Public Speaking Coach helps thousands of individuals optimise their communication skills and speak better.

With my roots in Dehradun, I owe my academic strength to Brightlands School that has instilled deep-rooted values in me. These values have helped me serve my course participants and followers by adding more value to their lives.

My two years at IIM Kashipur studying management helped me grow my company and create a global footprint as a coach.

In the last 10 years of success and learning, I realized the power of doing than just thinking. Today, I am a summation of what I did, and whom I spent my time with.

I am glad you choose to spend your time reading about me here on Eatmynews. Happy to serve you through my learnings.

2. When did you first decide that you wanted to create content and how did you start?

Today as a professional creator, if I look in the rearview mirror I feel that I was creating content since childhood but never realized that I was sowing the seeds for today.

Be it writing poems, articles, or songs during school days, creation has always been an integral part of me. I used to create music during my college days but never thought of creating content in a professional way. I wish I thought of it earlier. Perhaps good things take time. Haha...So be it!

I remember that during 2013-14, I was posting one status every single day on Facebook. Back then “Text” was the preferred mode for the statuses, unlike videos that we post today.

Now, these statuses were not about what I had for breakfast, or how am I feeling, rather they were wisdom bytes with a pinch of sarcasm and humour. And it took a LOT of grey cells to come up with something interesting every single day. Ahh! Now I realize why I started losing hair back then.

There were days where I had to board the train and also had to post the status. I knew that in the next few minutes I would be in a no-network zone, so I had to create content while rushing on the platform, while using the washroom, while being in the hospital. Pheww!

I would call it madness coupled with commitment.

Yes, I enjoyed the process, that’s why I could do it on a daily basis. After sometime when I stopped posting those statuses, I got a lot of messages inquiring about my existence on this earth and asking when I would resume posting. This gave me a strong validation about the power of content and consistency.

As a coach, I was able to help my participants who attended my training sessions in the physical classroom mode. However, I wanted to help people from all over the world navigate through their personal and professional life challenges. That is why I started creating content on social media in a professional manner.

3. Who is your favourite creator and why?

I don’t have any favourite creator, however, I appreciate the content created by Gary Vaynerchuk. It seems authentic as well as relevant to the current times.

4. How and where do you find inspiration to churn out content?

Once you figure out why you do what you do, you do not need any inspiration to get going. Once you find your ikigai - your reason for being, you would be on your path of exploration. Creating content is the output of the input you give to your brain. Follow the right people who add value to your life through their content.

I unfollow those who dump garbage on my newsfeed. I follow a simple concept and would advise you to make a wise choice. Either choose GIGO- Garbage In Garbage Out or choose VIVO - Value In Value Out. I have made my choice, that is why you are reading about me. I would be happy to read about you as well. Make the right choice!

5. Which is your favourite book and why?

As India’s first Ikigai Coach, I have been exploring the concept of ikigai, even before those 4 circles made the headlines. When I read and also met the author of the book, IKIGAI, I could reconnect with my research. This book helps me connect with myself and guides me to explore myself.

6. What piece of advice would you like to give to future and aspiring creators?

Create because you love to not because you have to. It is very easy to get influenced to get started but challenging to sustain. Nourish and nurture yourself with the right content so that you create valuable content that is truly a reflection of your identity.
