If you have an idea in mind, just start writing it because most of us procrastinate the idea of writing like it can wait and end up writing nothing at all. So take out time from your busy schedule and give yourself that creative space to follow your passion.
Hi, I am Dr Surbhi, an oral and maxillofacial radiologist by profession working in a government hospital of Uttarakhand. I was born and brought up in Dehradun.
2. When did you decide you wanted to be a writer?
There is not a single moment where I can say that I decided to be a writer. I started writing Hindi poems when I was very young and then when I got into college I started writing more in English. The main journey started in 2018 when I finally decided to write a full-blown novel.
I think my posting in the beautiful mountain area gave me the enthusiasm and right amount of focus to fabricate a beautiful love story. So I am really thankful to the mountains!
3. Is it a financially stable career?
Well, any creative field requires a lot of time and patience to get recognised and of course, the inflow of money is slow initially. Luckily me as a doctor and having a stable career, just concentrated on my writing and enjoyed the process rather than thinking about the money aspect.
4. Who is your favourite writer and why?
I am a non-fiction lover myself and have been a huge fan of Rhonda Byrne and Devdutt Patnaik!
5. Where does your inspiration lie?
I take inspiration from the people I meet every day or the experiences I have had in my lifetime.
6.What piece of advice would you like to give to future aspiring writers?
First of all, I would like to say that if you have an idea in mind, just start writing it because most of us procrastinate the idea of writing like it can wait and end up writing nothing at all. So take out time from your busy schedule and give yourself that creative space to follow your passion.

Secondly, once you have done writing your thoughts in any form, try to find a proper medium or platform to showcase it whether it’s in form of a blog, an article in a magazine or a book itself, whatever you choose.
Thirdly and most important of all, perseverance to make sure it goes to the masses and patience with the process.
7. Which is your favourite book and why?
I think that is the most difficult question out of all. I am a huge sucker of self-help books so whether it’s The Secret of Rhonda Byrne or The power of the subconscious mind by Dr Joseph Murphy, I love them all.
