1. Tell us more about yourself and your profession.
I was a level 10 gymnast and competed in gymnastics basically my whole life, I am now competing in dance. I am a certified personal trainer and nutritionist, and have a huge passion for health and fitness!
2. What is your fitness mantra?
You can live life happy and healthy, you don’t have to compromise! There is no one or the other, it’s all about balance.
3. What are some of the major misconceptions about diets and exercises?
There are so many misconceptions about diet and exercise, but one of the biggest ones is that weights will make you bulky. Don’t be afraid to lift heavy! It’s hard to grow, but lifting heavy is what is going to give you that definition!
Another misconception is fat loss, doing cardio isn’t what makes you lose the weight, that has to do with being in a calorie deficit.
4. How can one maintain a healthy lifestyle and build immunity?
Building a successful career in anything involves work! You have to put in the effort day in and day out, but if you are passionate about your work, it will show!
5. How can one build a successful career in your field?
To maintain a healthy lifestyle and build immunity, you have to have self-discipline and motivation! Once you get yourself going things become a routine!
6. What is one piece of advice you would like to give someone who wishes to lose weight?
The best advice I have for losing weight is to be patient! Results will come with time and work, you can’t rush things or else weight loss won’t be sustainable! Always remember the key to weight loss is to manage your calories, not cardio!
Yes, cardio helps in the process, but it all comes down to the number of calories you consume. You have to eat fewer calories than you burn in a day. I like to say, “Calories determine your weight, and nutrition determines your health.”
7. How do diets and exercise contribute to overall well being and happiness?
Diets are definitely not for everyone! They are great for people with health concerns, athletes with specific training, or just anyone who needs to cut certain foods out. To live a happy and healthy lifestyle, it’s all about balance!
Eat foods that are healthy, but you can also add in some fun foods to keep life enjoyable! It all comes down to how much you eat! If you keep foods into your caloric rage, you can create a “food budget” for yourself with all the things you enjoy!
