Distancing from the visual work can accelerate progress. It can give new ideas and improve the work.
My name is Alper Dostal, a Multidisciplinary Designer, and Artist and was born and grew up in Vienna, Austria. As a kid, I was always interested in creating stuff, experimenting, and art in general which led me to the education I have today I guess.
I studied graphic and communication design and later I finished a diploma class for design & narration. During that time I was already playing around with 3D software and developed a bigger interest in art. After education, I got self-employed as a graphic designer and worked for several years for different kinds of agencies and clients.
In 2017 I started to share my experimental ideas, mostly surreal work, via social media and started to gain attention. I kept on letting my ideas out and shared. Since then I had the pleasure to work with amazing agencies, studios, and brands around the world.
2. How and when did you realize your passion for visual arts?
As a kid, I was mostly influenced by my father who was creating videos and photos at that time. I was always surrounded by his camera equipment and sometimes I was also allowed to use them.
Nice question! I was never asked before. For now, one of my favourite effects is the one in the movie of Christopher Nolan's "Inception". Where the whole world/city is bending or folding towards the viewer. If you break it down to its root the effect is quite simple but with a great visual impact, that's what I like the most about it.
5. What do you think is the best method to review visuals for corrections? And What is your favourite software to work with?
In my opinion: Sleep. Distancing from the visual work can accelerate progress. It can give new ideas and improve the work. But if time is more limited than doing something else for a few hours can also help, like doing sport. I mostly work with Blender and Adobe Software.
6. What is the one piece of advice that you would give to aspiring visual artists?
Don't hold yourself back, share your ideas and do things that you love and makes you feel happy. Even if you only have 5 mins for it.

And during school I often had good marks in drawing and teachers showed me ways to pursue this direction. But first I wanted to become a professional soccer player and was quite successful for 12 years. But after time I realized my real passion for visual arts. It made me feel happier.
