Anjali - Being a Successful Blogger/Creator Is All About Being Authentic and Genuine

Anjali

I loved creating content on Instagram more than other social platforms especially because here the focus is more on photos and I love photography (It all began with a gift from my dad, a camera which fueled my passion for taking photos).

1. Tell us about your background and journey?

My name is Anjali and I am from India but currently living in Qatar. I am a BTech graduate and an Engineer by profession.

My Instagram handle is One Mile at a Time Travel (@onemileatatimetravel) and I like to call it OMAT in short.

2. What led you to start your page on Instagram and what is it about?

I am a hodophile and I am so passionate about traveling to new places, meeting new people, and learning about a different culture. I created this account in 2019 thinking of posting my travel content but never really used this account then. I kept posting on my private account and I was very much active on it.

I loved creating content on Instagram more than other social platforms especially because here the focus is more on photos and I love photography (It all began with a gift from my dad, a camera which fueled my passion for taking photos).

Back in India, I used to go a lot of trekking and hiking, Instagram was like a virtual album for me. But during Covid when I had a lot of time to kill, I started uploading photos on this blog account of mine and it picked up the audience and I was so blessed to be on the right path.

I started using this account in August 2020 and the growth was so overwhelming. I feel so blessed to get this Insta fam and I want to thank every one of them.

Now it is a lifestyle blog based in Qatar (until we can travel freely again without quarantines)

3. What are you currently doing and What does your day look like?

I work for an IT firm based out of Doha and it’s a regular 8-5 job. I manage to keep my account active by posting stories during break times. I keep my photos ready when I get free time at home and post them once in 2-3 days.

But these days, I find it difficult to keep consistency because the office work has been hectic lately. Balancing the two ends needs patience. I'm dedicated to creating and exploring new aspects. Like any other job, managing an IG account needs time and effort.

Though the current situation with the global pandemic has had its demerits, I haven't let my fire off.

4. Who is your favorite creator and why?

I really have a big list of creators who are my favs. I personally love travel content creators and fashion/lifestyle bloggers. I follow people whom I can relate to and I just can’t pick one.

5. How and where do you find inspiration to churn out content?

I am always inspired to create content because that’s something I would give my heart for. I love photography (both to be in front of the camera and behind it). I love to try new things and be more creative but I don’t have a team and so I find it difficult for me to make my ideas practical sometimes.

6. Which is your favorite book and why?

Alchemist is one of my most favorite books. I remember reading it in college and it gave so many new insights about life then. I love reading such inspirational books.

7. What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?

Consistency and honesty, I believe are the most important factors to be successful on these platforms. Also, have dreams, you’ll grow into them. I would like to quote the famous quote from The Alchemist – “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it!”

8. What is the future of influencing on social media going to look like according to you?

Social media is constantly evolving and it’s quite exciting to think about what it will look like in a few years. Big brands communicating to their consumer base is more diverse than ever before. Brand endorsement using Bloggers/influencers is an exciting communication method these days.

There will be greater investment in social media advertising. There is an enormous number of potential customers using online networks and social platforms. But what one needs to concentrate on as a blogger/creator is to stay authentic and genuine.
