Samson Lei - Using Hair Products Incorrectly, Inadequate Water Intake Are Some Of The Mistakes Everyone Makes With Their Hair (Hair and Make Up Artist)

Expectations are a part and parcel of any individual. I listen to every clients needs and work my way accordingly I give in my input as well and upon mutual agreement they are catered to. I've been blessed with best clientele so far.

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

I was born and raised in Manipur. I got into the field of fashion during the early stages of my life. I followed my passion moved out from my comfort zone, pushed my boundaries, struggled a lot to reach where I am now. I still have a lot to learn.

The movie industry in Mumbai and Kerala has been a boost in my career and I have many celebrity friends who have helped push me to be who I am today. Gods grace and family support; I wouldn't be able to do all this without it. 

2. What made you to choose this as your profession?

I have always loved to play with makeup and colors growing up. I found this profession suitable for myself since it allows a lot of creativity and complements my love for fashion and glamour. Hence, the passion for this profession.

3. Do you believe in moving with the trend, or do you prefer evergreen styles?

I move along with my clients liking mostly keeping in track of latest fashion trends and work along accordingly. Its the clients sense of style and how they carry themselves that I work on myself. Keeping in mind their comfort levels. 

For eg:  When a customer comes for makeup and hairstyling, first of all, I analyze their skin and hair. In case they are asking for an unsuitable style or makeup, I convince them why it will not suit them by sharing my analysis of their face cut, skin type, and hair texture. Having said this trends do play a major role.

4. Different clients have different expectations, how do you cater to that?

Exactly, what you want will differ from another person, what your skin type is; will differ from another. So expectations are a part and parcel of any individual. I listen to every clients needs and work my way accordingly I give in my input as well and upon mutual agreement they are catered to. I've been blessed with best clientele so far.

5. What has been the biggest achievement in your career?

Working for Indian Fashion Week has been a career breakthrough for me. I got to learn how to work under pressure and learned patience while attending to many celebrities at the time during their ramp walk, after parties and events.

6. What is one mistake that you believe everyone makes with their hair?

Using hair products incorrectly, not cleaning hair combs/ brushes, over combing, neglecting your diet, inadequate water intake are to name a few. The list just goes on!!!
