Shriem Agarwal

Hello everyone! This is Shriem Agarwal, a young, ambitious and a curious girl always willing to try something new. Growing up and getting fascinated looking at my mom cooking and baking such amazing things and trying the help her out. I love cooking, baking, dancing, creating, art, content creation, travelling, trying out new things, places, cuisines, writing, photography, styling and blogging.

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

I m ‘Shriem Agarwal’ the face behind “dash of delicious” on Instagram. Born and brought up in Kolkata. I come from a background where I have seen people work hard dream big and achieve what they always wanted to.

I am extremely passionate and dedicated to my goal and can go to any extent in order to achieve it. My passion for trying new things and always pushing my self to go one step ahead has made me confident and helped me reach here in no time. Still, I think there’s a lot to achieve. This is just the start.

Talking about my journey of blogging on a whole, it started with the most random thought and with the sheer support of my mom and Nani ma. While we all were constantly cooking and baking during the lockdown and I must say I was trying out new things and also started developing my own recipes.

With the constant push by my mom and Nani, I opened up my page uploaded pics, videos etc. and started gaining a lot of popularity. People really liked it and then there was no turning back.

In just a month a brand from Kolkata contacted me for an affiliate collaboration. I couldn’t thank them enough for believing in me and my new work. Further, I collaborated with a lot of brands, people doing work all over India and also promoted people on my page by collaborating.

However, this is just the start I need to improve, learn and deliver the best to the people out there.

2. Which is your favourite cuisine and dish?

Being a food lover and a person who loves to cook, I enjoy all the cuisines, if I had chosen one, it would be really difficult, but yes I can come down to my top 2 cuisines

Mediterranean and Italian. I love the flavours that both of these cuisines have, totally love pasta, pizza, ravioli, bruschetta, lasagne in Italian and for Mediterranean hands down the mezze platter, the salad and what not! Like the list goes long...

3. How and where do you find inspiration to churn out content?

I draw inspiration from everywhere, even if I m looking at a fruit suddenly thinking of styling it in an aesthetic manner. I even churn out my content from various people I look up to and even the people who are new to the field. I think I can learn from anyone and everyone and that is one thing I feel that sets me apart.

Rest it's just my mind working 24/7 and looking for new things, thinking about stuff that my audience would connect with, trying to put together things that would be unique and different. Also, I try and look up at the trends which I can recreate!

4. What makes you appreciate a particular dish or a restaurant and talk about it on your blog?

I personally feel that be it a dish or a restaurant there are a lot of things that can make a dish “mindblowing” and a restaurant a “visit again place”

For me to appreciate a place, it would be the hygiene, service, ambience, food, choices on the menu, price, presentation, very important the taste.

For me, for a dish, it would be the flavours, idea behind the food, and presentation. I feel these three are important pointers for a dish to be perfect.

One thing I would like to put across for all the restaurants and cafes out there would be that, apart from the people who visit the place for the hype, there might be people who are visiting it for the first time so it's very important to make sure that the hospitality and the food should be such that the person visits the place again.

5. What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?

My idea of success in my life is consistency, hard work and dedication to the work which I do. I feel when you love your work and have the courage to move ahead knowing that you might lose or it might get very difficult its that which will lead you to the path of success.

Adding on one thing that I feel does help is focusing on the good, being thankful for the little things that happen and allowing your passion to become your purpose and then one day it becomes your full-time profession and leads you to the path of success.

6. Do you have any advice for baking enthusiasts (beginners/ intermediate)?

My advice to all the aspiring bakers out there would be that: start from basics, create your own style even for a simple cupcake or a truffle cake.

Get inspired but don’t try to imitate the other bakers! That will help you in short term but in the long run, it will not make you creative and won't set you apart from the crowd as we all know competition lies everywhere!

7. What is your dream?

Alright! So I have a small list of dreams

1. To make my parents proud

2. To become a pastry chef

3. To achieve heights via my blog page

4. To open up my bakery and serve people

5. To become a nutritionist

Overall become a successful boss lady in whatever I do in future.

8. Which is your favourite book and why?

I m not a big fan of reading, having said that I love to write. Still, I like reading books related to nutrition, health, self-care and self-help book.

As I mentioned above I don’t prefer reading or love reading but in case I want to read a book it should suit my interest or should serve a purpose,

Still, I would like to mention my favourite that would be “ikigai” talks about how long and happy do Japanese people lead their lives, it makes me super positive to read the book, springs my hope which is sometimes lost and makes me realize when I go wrong, it makes me grow into a better version of myself.

Attention guys, I was just 9 Years when I thought of helping mom, my mom would not allow me to go near the gas but I still remember me sifting flour, creaming the butter and sugar, helping her make pizzas and whatnot.

I am a 17-year-old young girl from Kolkata. Currently in class 12. I love cooking, baking, dancing, creating, art, content creation, travelling, trying out new things, places, cuisines, writing, photography, styling and blogging.

During lockdown in June 2020, I started my food blog, got an amazing response and with the love of people they wanted me to diversify and create all sorts of content so now I create food, lifestyle, fashion, nutrition-related content along with product styling and styling on general.

I take up every day as a challenge, get up, work hard, balance things right and try to deliver the best I can.
