1. Tell us about your background and journey.

My name is Shumaila (Mila), I'm mainly a food and lifestyle influencer. I specialize in creating different types of presentations, cuisines, cultures, and unprecedented innovations in the world of food. Currently, I'm doing restaurant & cafe reviews while highlighting the best parts of Jeddah's beauty.

Apart from this, I'm also a corporate event registration manager, I have years worth of knowledge and experience in the fields of business administration, E-commerce, computer science, health science, skincare, haircare, nutrition, photography, and design.

Today, I am working with organizations like Intercontinental Jeddah, Grand Casablanca, Twina, Zillion, Ghazal, and brands such as Koita, Alpro, Riama, Vitamin, Balkhair..etc

2. What led you to start your page on Instagram and what is it about?

I started my blogging journey eight years ago and what made me do it at first was the deep passion for the art of food styling and picture-perfect presentations!

I wanted to learn more about this niche and keep myself busy and motivated, besides my job. I'm a true advocate of the belief that a woman should never stay idle, she should always have something going on in her day to day.

3. What are you currently doing and What does your day look like?

A typical day for me starts at 9 am. The first thing I do when I wake up is to meditate for at least 15 minutes. I'm a huge believer in the fact that our mind shapes our reality. Those clear, positive energies really do reflect in our daily lives.

After that, I have a well-rounded healthy breakfast along with a cup of coffee and I start my work. I separate my day into three portions. In the first portion, I check all my messages, notifications, catch up on my social media and make a to-do list so I don't waste time shuffling tasks in my mind.

The second portion of my day goes to content creation. This is when I batch create my content for the week; opening packages, filming videos, taking pictures, and all the likes of that.

The third portion is my time to sit down and post that day's work and finish my administrative tasks. Usually, by this time it's evening and I go for reviews or meetings if I have any and this is what a typical day looks like for me.

4. Can blogging be a full-time career?

It heavily depends on how you approach it because it takes a lot of time, commitment, and consistent efforts to improve yourself so you stay on top of trends and don't get left behind.

I'd say that it could be a full-time career for a person who doesn't yet have a family to take care of because you can then spend your whole attention and energy on one thing and figure out multiple passive income streams but for people who have a family to look after, it's a huge painstaking process and requires a lot of energy to even fit in such a saturated industry.

So I guess for them, it's better off left as a side hustle. And just like regular jobs, it's something that not everyone can do, like an accountant can't do the job of a 3d designer and vice versa, so I guess it's really a specific form of interest.

5. What makes you appreciate a particular dish or a restaurant and talk about it on your blog?

My immediate answer would be the same thing that made me start this blog in the first place and that is the picture-perfect food styling and presentations!

The creative side always attracts me and urges me to write about it and include it on my page. And the second thing would of course be the environment/interior and how clean, beautiful, and smartly it's set up.

6. What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?

My leading idea, the one that motivates me every day to get out of bed and create wonderful things is that nothing is permanent, you have to enjoy life to the fullest before it's taken away from you.

Every moment counts! It's something I always remind myself, I have to be present and live in the moment because success only comes to those who appreciate what they already have and don't go around hating what seems difficult and blaming everyone for why they're not happy.

7. What is the future of influencing on social media going to look like according to you?

That is quite an interesting topic to talk about and frankly, I can't say much about it because the world is taking such sharp turns and social media is changing every single day.

Hundreds of people try to fit in every day and only a few of them survive. I say 'Survive' because social media is like an ecosystem and it's not kind to content creators.

It's very challenging and hard to stay on top and people lose interest very very quickly. And honestly, I'm extremely grateful that I've come this far and that I have something solid to offer. I hope it stays that way.

8. Which is your favorite book and why?

I love this question because I absolutely LOVE to read! Since my life has become so jam-packed busy, I only get time to read articles or short e-books. My favorite one by far is 'Act like a lady, think like a man' by Steve Harvey.
