Cardi B is a famous American rapper and song writer. Cardi B is her stage name; her real name is Belcalis Almanzar. She also worked as a TV actor and participated in several reality shows. She was born on 11 October, 1992 in Manhattan and spent her childhood in the Bronx, New York City.

She used to live with her grandmother in Washington Heights in Manhattan when she was growing up. Once Cardi B told The Fader in her interview that she lives in a big and very beautiful condo but it’s empty and boring.

She added to this that her grandmother’s house is very small but there is some certain happiness. I think it’s very common as we all miss our childhood times, like Cardi B does as those are the most beautiful time of everyone’s life.

Her journey towards her career as a rapper

During her teenage she left her school and she used to work at a deli in Tribeca as she left her house and did not have a single penny. After she got fired from there, she started working as a stripper in a strip club. On working in a strip club, she shared her opinion in an interview.

She said that becoming a stripper was the positive point of her life. She also added that working as a stripper saved her from lot of things like poverty and an abusive relationship. She earned enough money from stripping and improved her life. She also joined her school again.

She is a dropout from Borough of Manhattan Community College. While working in a strip club some videos of her got famous on vine and on her Instagram page and she got a huge publicity overnight and she became a famous internet influencer of all time.

This was the turning point of her musical career. After that Cardi B participated in a reality TV show ‘Love & Hip Hop: New York (Season 6 and 7)’ in 2015 and from there she raised her stardom and finally in 2016 she left the show after doing two consecutive seasons.

Cardi B made her debut in musical industry with Jamaican reggae fusion alongside singer Popcaan, in 2015. After that in same year she launched her first music video. After that in 2016 she released her several mix tapes and albums.

She has acted in several TV shows between 2015 and 2016 like ‘uncommon sense with Charlamagne’, ‘kocktails with Khloe’, ‘being Mary Jane’ and many more.

Cardi B raised her fame as a rapper from the song “Bodak Yellow” which was released in 2017 and according to Billboard’s Hot 100 chart this rap became the biggest single in the country. She replaced the famous Taylor Swift who was dominating the chart because of huge popularity of song.

She became the first rapper to reach the number one position of the Billboard Hot chart as a solo artist. It was her first biggest achievement as no solo artist was topped the chart after Lauryn Hill in 1998. In 2018 her first studio album “Invasion of Privacy” was released.

This album was also at No.1 position in Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. It also broke several records and was certified triple platinum by RIAA. She also got Grammy Award for this album and this made her the first solo artist to won this award.

Her next release made her the first rapper who topped Billboard’s Hot 100 chart three consecutive times. She is so much talented that she has fans like Taylor Swift, G-Eazy, Ciara and many more. In many interviews Swift has appreciated Cardi’s work.

She got the title of the most influential rappers of all the time by Forbes. Her talent made her to win many awards in a short span of her career. She has won 8 Billboard Music Awards, 5 Guinness World Record, 5 American Music Award, and 11 BET Hip Hop Awards.

She became the first artist to top Billboard’s Global 200. In 2018 she was included in the list of 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine. She was honoured as Woman of the Year in 2020 by Billboard.

Famous controversies of Cardi

The talented and famous artists are always surrounded by two things first one camera and second controversy. Cardi B is also involved in various controversies because of her action or response.

The latest controversy was her promotional campaign for her debut sneaker collection with Reebok in which she posed like Goddess Durga with sneakers in her hand and for this she has to apologise for hurting religious sentiments of people.

In 2018 she threw her high heels shoes on her fellow rapper Nicki Minajat an party hosted by Harper’s Bazaar during New York Fashion Week. She also actively participates in politics, and several times she has given statements on various political issues.
