I truly believe that making simple changes to everyday lives will result in overall wellness and long term health and I am here to explore all the different bio-hacking tricks that are out there.
1. Tell us more about yourself and your profession.
I’m a nurse practitioner, entrepreneur, functional nutritionist, Intermittent Fasting and Nutrition Expert, and a two-time TEDx speaker. My passion is helping women find wellness through the healing power of nutrition and solving health problems from the inside out.
But, what I”m most proud of are my titles of mom and wife! I have all boys, including two Doodles and a loving, patient, and supportive husband.
I have over 20 years of experience in emergency medicine and cardiology but pivoted to focus on food as medicine. I love to learn and am a bit of a science geek. I am the founder of The Everyday Wellness Project, which is the umbrella for all things Cynthis Thurlow; speaking, publications, podcast, nutrition, intermittent fasting and empowering women to take back their health.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. We are a family that constantly has a burning desire to travel all over the world and I am always dreaming about where I want to visit next. Most days, however, you can find me out walking my dogs, listening to a podcast, or reading one of the many books I have in my office.

2. What is your fitness mantra?
Move your body, in some way, every single day! I remind the women I work with that you want to sweat in some capacity when you work out. It doesn’t need to be hours at the gym, but you should find some sort of movement you enjoy and do it!
Change up your exercise routine and ensure you are getting adequate restorative exercise so that you are able to recover.
3. What are some of the major misconceptions about diets and exercises?
You don’t need a diet and lots of exercise for fat loss! Fat loss is not about counting calories, low-fat products, and hours of cardio! Eat real food, reduce carbs to low starchy veggies, use intermittent fasting as a tool, and find an exercise that you enjoy.

4. How can one maintain a healthy lifestyle?
It really is true the saying, “You are what you eat.” Eliminate seed oil and swap them out for healthy fats such as coconut, avocado, extra virgin olive oil, raw whole nuts and seeds.
Vary your times of intermittent fasting for maximum benefits, including autophagy. Stop eating processed foods and increase your salt intake.
5. How can one build a successful career in your field?
Well, I am frequently asked by young nurses and NPs how to create the entrepreneurial journey I have been on...I just continued to pursue things that interested me.

Well, I am frequently asked by young nurses and NPs how to create the entrepreneurial journey I have been on...I just continued to pursue things that interested me.
This was, initially, a doctoral program, a wellness coaching program, then a functional nutrition program; then having the leap of faith to leave clinical medicine and become a full-fledged entrepreneur. I consistently like to challenge myself as well...so setting big scary goals is a huge part of my success.
6. What is one piece of advice you would like to give someone who wishes to lose weight?
Give yourself grace. This is not a race. Fat loss does not happen overnight so believe in the process and start with small and achievable goals.
7. How do diets and exercise contribute to overall well being and happiness?

You want to feel good in your own skin. When you look better, you feel better about yourself and in turn, radiate positive energy.
