Andrea and Irene - Being A Singer Comes With Great Perks! People Will Pay You For Doing What You Love The Most (Singers)

 

Double Dragon was born when in 2018 unfortunately my dad got sick with Cancer and he wanted to see our dream come true so badly. We couldn’t make our dad to see our audition but we realized that in his last month with us we tried to make him happy and that was our goal on that moment but ... our goal changed on the process and we realized  that there could be a lot of people in their Houses like my dad, that they need a reason to smile and be happy and that became our new goal and that’s how DOUBLE DRAGON was born.

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

Myself Andrea and Irene also known as Double Dragon made our first step into this world on March 18, 1988. We are a Peruvian-born & raised singing duo and performers. We made our TV debut at a very young age when we were 8 years old at Peru's children television show "De Colores" (1996) as back dancers until the cancellation of the show in 1999

In 2004, at the age of 16, Irene auditioned to a singing competition called "Desafio de Estrellas" (Stars Challenge) in channel 4 (America TV) where the winners of 7 groups of 7 participants each would face off to determine who was the best singer with Irene prevailing as the absolute winner. 

The same year Andrea attended a audition in a TV reality/competition called "Pop tv Show" and she would go on to win a spot in the prize which was to be casted in a girls' band of 5 members. Despite that, the group would never come to fruition.

The twins expressed that their inspiration to start participating in this competition was Simon Cowell. They became huge fans of the American Idol judge at the time since they enjoyed watching him on cable television.

In 2012 we decided to be a part of a reality tv show named DIVAS as a duet in Perú and we won so we decided to pursue our career in Music.

In 2013 we participate in THE VOICE PERU but separately this time because duets were not allowed and end it up in the Semifinals...but for us...our dream was to sing in front of Simon Cowell so we decide we want to go to USA and try! We finally got all the documentation to travel in 2017 (it wasn’t an easy process) but we did it ! And tried out in 2018 unfortunately my dad got sick with Cancer and he wanted to see our dream come true so badly.

In spite of this, we attended the audition but we were devastated because he passed away before we could attend our audition...and we didn’t pass but one producer sent us an email to audition next year with a different song ... (we knew that our audition wasn’t good enough to make to the show but something made them doubt about it so we studied from our mistakes, made ourselves different, renamed our stage , change look, got shinier, better, explosive, made ourselves memorable and THATS what we did) ...

2. How and when did you work in the show "America s got talent"

We prepared our song “it’s raining man” for around 3 months in advance...choreography and singing while walking it was 3 to 10 hours rehearsals

We wanted the song to be perfect 

3.When did you first decide you wanted to pursue music and how did you start?

It all began at the age of 9. We love it and we couldn’t see each other doing something else. We just love to make people happy and enjoy the moment 

4. Who is your favorite artist and why?

• Beyoncé (she is INCREDIBLE) the way she dance, singe, moves, belt! She is AMAZING!
• Black pink ...that’s dedication! Great vocal harmonies and performance with nice choreography perfection!  

5. Can you throw some light on opportunities one gets as a singer?

Being a singer comes with great perks! People will pay you for doing what you love the most! (Music). The love of the people who follow give you is just indescribable. You don’t sell just music instead you give moments, emotions, bring back memories , so for us ... people actually gave us the opportunity to be a part of their life and that’s priceless.

6. Is format training required or can one train themselves purely on the basis of talent?

In our case we just trained ourselves, we would love a teacher but I think is possible to do it yourself 

7. What are you currently doing?

After the show we were signed by a record label. We are making our first album , we already record the first 2 songs and we have the music video almost ready to be released. We are super excited about it.

8. What piece of advice would you like to give to future and aspiring artists?

Be yourself ! Don’t hide your personality! Be unique ! And Be different ....make yourself memorable ..some times you have to show your art in very small frame of time so use the time wisely! If you have 3 minutes before!!! Make those 3 minutes an INCREDIBLE MEMORY
