McDonald's V/S Burger King: The Most Delicious Rivalry Ever

The Beginning of the Rivalry

Who doesn’t know the names of these two fast-food giants, McDonald's and Burger King? Both of them equally delicious and equally competitive. McDonald's was launched in 1984 and BK in 1985. This not too far launching time period gave birth to an ever-exciting rivalry which is on for more than six decades now.

Another reason for the rivalry can be the limited number of items that one can have on a menu. If we think about it discreetly, what does a food joint generally serve? Burgers, soft drinks, fries, and some sides!! So, the only way by which they can get a hold of the market is by getting a tough edge through advertising which McDy and BK are taking full advantage of.

BK’s Unique Selling is its world popular flame grilling and also it provides products at a very reasonable price. On the other hand, Mcdonald's has always bragged about its quality and the consistency in its taste.

Just Two Brands Roasting Each Other

Now, the two brands have been very socially active forever. They don’t leave any chance to roast each other whether it comes on social media, or showing the rivalry publicly through billboards and signages, etc.

This picture shows the roast used by McDonald's in which it is making fun of Burger King by asking its customers, “Served by a king or served like a king?”. To which Burger King came with an epic reply saying, “Why try to roast when you can’t even flame grill?” Showing McDonald's weakness of not using the flame grill for its products.

Both of the brands have also been fighting to prove whose big burger is tastier. Let me make this easier for you to understand. So, basically, McDonald's and Burger King both have their highly demanded big burgers which customers love to consume. McDonald's offers Big Mac and Burger King have their very own Whopper.

Burger King used a very good advertising technique by which it showed that their Whopper is far bigger than the Big Mac.

McDonald's boasts about having its outlets not too far at any place. For instance, France has a lot of Mcdonald's outlets which McDy showed in this picture. But how can we expect Burger King to stay silent on this, given the fact the BK has just 20 outlets in France. So, Burger King gave a response to this roast by telling the people that long drives don’t matter if you want to eat your favorite Whopper. Also, BK just printed all the directions for the travelers. Pretty smart!!!!

Even Big Brands have Hearts

But then, the rivalry is not the only which keeps a brand going. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, lots of people lost their jobs, every business was facing a slow-down. So, BK printed and rolled out an urge to its customers to order not only from BK but also from its sister food joints, EVEN McDonalds. The picture below shows the whole campaign by Burger King.

It is because of these small steps that we sometimes realize that even big brands have empathy. Pretty ironical right? Well, this rivalry will keep ongoing until and unless one brand bent down its knees, which according to the given the situation will never happen.
