Naqiyah Haji - Give Every Audition Your Best Shot, Don't Wait Around for a Call Back... Just Keep Working Towards Bettering Yourself (Actor)

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

Typically, I come from a non - filmy background as my dad is a businessman not related to films. However, my brother has been acting since he was a baby so that nurtured my desire to act. 

My journey started with a music video produced by Mika Singh. It was called 'Dil ki Masti'. It was followed by a short film called 'Naina Da Kya Kasoor'. After that I did a web series for pocket films called 'Love Contract'. 

I have just completed shooting for my first feature film called #Justice For Good Content. It is in the editing stage.

2. Did you ever think or dream of being an actor?

Since I grew up around my brother I was typically on a set every second day so I always dreamt of being an actor.

3. How can one approach their career and have the confidence and belief to become an actor?

Believe in your goal and passion and then work towards it. Give every audition your best shot. Don't wait around for a call back... just keep working towards bettering yourself.

4. If not this, what would you be doing?

For me there is no plan B. I wanted this and I worked towards this only.

5. For a complete outsider with inroads, what advice would you like to give?

If you are a complete outsider - firstly join some good acting courses.... Do a good photo shoot. Contact co-ordinators and agents... Go for auditions! Good luck!

6. What is your mantra of success?

I have a long way to be successful. And I think that I'll always feel that I have a long way to be successful. Maybe that's my mantra for success.

7. Which is your favourite book and why?

One of my favourite books is. - The power of your subconscious mind by Dr. Joseph Murphy , it’s an impactful book that’s been a great source of positivity for me!
