An influencer is someone with clear branding who’s sponsoring products through a shot or long term partnerships with brands and/or PR agencies. Sometimes a digital creator starts working as an influencer too. 

1. Tell us about your background and journey

I am Michele, I am 32 and I was born in Ancona, Italy. I have always been a summer lover and I loved going on holiday, either with my parents when I was young and later with my friends or alone. After high school, I moved to Bologna to study biotechnology. At the end of my studies, I decided to move to Amsterdam for an internship and I stayed there ever since. It’s been 9 years now.

2. What led you to start your page on Instagram and what is it about? 

I started it for fun when I was still doing my PhD and I was posting random things about my life: my trips and my daily life. In 2019 I started posting daily and also accepting sponsorships. That’s when I realized that I loved it and that it could become something more.

3. How would you distinguish the term digital creator from an influencer?

A Digital creator is a highly skilled creative who loves expressing emotions through digital art. An influencer is someone with clear branding who’s sponsoring products through a shot or long term partnerships with brands and/or PR agencies. Sometimes a digital creator starts working as an influencer too. Very common actually and the 2 figures very similar after all.

4. Is it financially sustainable to be a digital creator today?

It depends on your level of partnerships. In any case, it is very hard.

5. What do you think influences consumer behaviour?

Being relatable, 100%.

6. What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?

Do the things you love.

7. How can someone become a successful social media influencer or digital creator?

By choosing a clear branding, and by being honest and relatable.

8. Which is your favorite book and why?

“Mezzavalle nel cuore”, it’s a book about the story of my favorite beach near my hometown. It made me travel through my childhood memories and it’s just magical.

Afterwards, I started a PhD in pharmacology and that’s when I also started my Instagram account in parallel. In 2019 I started my extra career as a micro-influencer and I am continuing to enjoy this path since then.
