Summer is already here. It's time to hydrate, refresh and take good care of our bodies. It's the time when our bodies need plenty of fluids to keep functioning properly and stay healthy. And what's a better way to stay hydrated than by sipping on flavourful traditional drinks that are easy to make and fun to have. Here are such healthy yet delicious traditional needs to not miss out this summer.


1. Aam Panna

This absolutely lip-smacking drink is not only healthy but super tasty as well. Made from raw mangoes or "Kairi", Aam Panna is a popular drink in the northwestern belt. The mango pulp is seasoned with cumin powder, and mint leaves for that tangy and nostalgic taste.


2. Bel Ka Sharbat

Bel or Wood Apple or Stone Apple is a seasonal fruit packed with nutritional benefits. The fruit has a hard outer shell with a pulpy core on the inside. To make the Sharbat, the pulp is extracted and soaked in water, then lemon juice and jaggery are added to finish it. It cools down the body plus helps indigestion.


3. Shikanji

Shikanji is a popular lemon-based drink. This is famous especially in the northern part of the country where it is freshly made and sold on "thelas". This drink is different from regular lemonade as it has a flavourful twist of ingredients such as roasted cumin powder, black salt, etc.


4. Chaas

Buttermilk or Chaas is a curd-based drink popular with different names in the Indian subcontinent. Chaas is super easy to make and it's amazing for your digestion. To make this refreshing drink all you need to do is mix some curd with chilled water and some spices like cumin powder, black salt, and black pepper powder.


5. Lassi

Other heavenly curd-based drink, Lassi, is perfect to satisfy your sweet tooth. However, there is a namkeen or salty version of lassi too. You can also add fruits and spices as per your liking. Some people like to top it up with vanilla ice cream as well!


6. Kokum Sharbat

This refreshing coolant is very popular in the Konkan region of India. This Sharbat is made from the exotic fruit of this region called Kokam or Amsul. The fruit has a sweet and sour taste and this sharbat is perfect to quench your thirst.


7. Sattu Sharbat

Sattu ka sharbat is a popular drink from Bihar. Originally sattu is an ingredient that is made from roasted chana daal and is utilized to make sattu ke parathe, pinni as well as litti chokha. This versatile sattu is used to make sattu Ka sharbat and is very healthy and cooling for our body.
