My greatest achievement in my life is seeing my parents happy. They feel so proud of me when I do career-related things on a daily basis and the smile on their faces is priceless. I wouldn't change it for the world. They've been my biggest backbone and supported every move of my work and I owe it all to them.
1. Tell us about your background and journey.
I studied in London at the University of the Arts and graduated with a BA (Hons) Journalism degree. During my degree, I took a keen interest in the Radio and TV side of the degree and decided to pursue that. My very first job out of university was at a radio station called Club Asia - I began the graveyard shifts (4am-6am - Early breakfast) to be eased into the industry and the world of media. Ever since then, there has been no looking back!
2. What challenges did you come across in getting to where you are at today?
Oh there have been lots of challenges along the way but I must say, they have made me who I am today. There's a lot of competition in this field and people always want what you have, but what they don't realize is that you get work because of honesty, passion, and determination. In 2013/2014 I did go through a tough time when I was working at the BBC and I have bullied out of that place, it was quite an upsetting phase as I had lost all confidence in myself.
3. What projects have you worked on that have been particularly interesting?
I have a deep passion for my work and every day is interesting. If I had to highlight some projects I would love to tell you about two in particular. In June 2016 I was able to cover the renowned IIFA awards which, were taking place in Madrid.
I had a blast over the two days interviewing every possible celebrity that was there. This would then be followed by another interesting project in March 2017 where I was given the opportunity to broadcast my show live from Mauritius. It was a tie-up between Sunrise Radio and Mauritius Tourism and I had the time of my life!
4. Can you tell us more about your show " Filmy Kahani, Anushka ki Zubani"?
FKAKZ is my first video influencer campaign with Zee 5. They wanted to do something highly creative with me so we collectively went ahead with reviewing the content on their app but in true filmy style. Each week I pick a web series or movie from Zee 5 and I dress up as the characters and say dialogues whilst reviewing the show. It's a fun way of doing a review.
5. What do you think your greatest achievement has been?
My greatest achievement in my life is seeing my parents happy. They feel so proud of me when I do career-related things on a daily basis and the smile on their faces is priceless. I wouldn't change it for the world. They've been my biggest backbone and supported every move of my work and I owe it all to them.
6. What piece of advice would you like to give to future aspiring artists?
Go out there and grab any and every opportunity you get. Stay hungry for work and always make sure you love what you do and do what you love - that way you'll never have to work a day in your life.
