Reviews
Writing for Associated Press, Molly Sprayregen, who termed Unfinished as "deeply open and honest account", wrote, "Chopra Jonas' writing is open, engaging, and full of energy. She writes, it seems, to connect. The experience feels intimate, like Chopra Jonas is exchanging stories with a friend over coffee.
Her stories are exceedingly personal, and despite being an international movie star, many of them even feel relatable." Shaistha Khan from Arab News felt that the book was "written for a Western audience, further strengthening Chopra's foothold in Hollywood".
Unfinished reached The New York Times Best Seller list in the United States and topped the Nielsen BookScan best seller list in India
About the Book
‘The flavor of the book will be honest, funny, spirited, bold, and rebellious, just like me. I have always been a private person; I’ve never spoken about my feelings during my journey but I am ready to do so now.
I was raised to be fearless when it came to opinions, and I would like to tell my story in the hopes of inspiring people, especially women- to change the conversation, to shatter glass ceilings. Women are always told we can’t have everything. I want everything, and I believe anyone else can have it too. I’m proof of it.’– Priyanka Chopra
Personal Verdict
I am a big admirer of Priyanka Chopra and her courage and after reading Unfinished, her memoir, I am a bigger admirer! It is a very intimate personal story she has shared of her childhood, of her little family, of her big brave father, of her inspiring mother (OMG, Madhu Chopra- needs a book of her own- seems to be the big reason why Priyanka has turned out the way she is!)
And other little big things like her twin pageant wins, Hindi movie career, a not-so-happening music career and a Hollywood dream, my most loved chapters are about Nick, their marriage, her dad's loss and that last chapter called Home which she has so imaginatively and lovingly put together!!
Though I wish she had dwelled a little more on the making of some of her Hindi films and her famous relationships which she chooses not to linger on saying, 'The book is about me, not them!' Fair enough!
I also wished the book was written with a little more finesse and style and flair because that's what her story deserves, a little shot-in-the-arm in the telling! But, Unfinished is an inspiring read, alright!
Makes you feel proud of that little spunky girl from Bareily who always worked hard for what she wanted from her name on the family nameplate to a billboard in LA, Priyanka Chopra-Jonas is Boss Lady!
