My mother was a doctor and I have seen her work Tirelessly and non-stop as a government officer in spite of dealing with many problems she did not give up so she was my inspiration and there was something very exciting about being a gynaecologist although the initial years were tough I completely love my job now as there is no greater feeling in the world than when you bring in life.

1. Tell us about your upbringing, background and journey?

I was born and brought up in Jabalpur Madhya Pradesh and my mother was a doctor and my father was an engineer and I did my schooling from all-girls convent school and after my schooling, I shifted to Pune for my graduation and post-graduation and I lived there in a hostel for about seven years so I feel that staying on my own independently, far from my family I am dealing with my problems on my own that really helped to shape who I am today and helped me make my own decisions.

And now I am married in New Delhi and practising for the last 12 years and even though I am from a small town I have never felt inferior to anybody and that is because of my education and the confidence that it has given me to take on the world.

2. Why did you choose to be a doctor and decide what you specifically want to do?

My mother was a doctor and I have seen her work Tirelessly and non-stop as a government officer in spite of dealing with many problems she did not give up so she was my inspiration and there was something very exciting about being a gynaecologist although the initial years were tough I completely love my job now as there is no greater feeling in the world than when you bring in life.

3. We salute your work during the pandemic, where did you get the inspiration to work so hard?

Throughout the pandemic I Must have delivered about 100 babies and done about 500 surgeries since March last year And yes my biggest inspiration is my mother who did her duties in the Covid ward even at the age of 70 in spite of being a heart disease patient.

I just want to say that we as doctors are doing our jobs and it’s just like if you are in the army and if you have to go for a battle or a war you will not sit at home and say that no I will not go for my duties if it is a dangerous situation, every soldier does go and fight in the war when required similarly we as doctors are trained to do our duties in spite of the conditions being dangerous or risky and we take all precautions and put in our best. We are not trained to be scared and to sit at home when our patients require us the most. I have always believed in faith over fear.

4. How do you expect digital health to grow over the next 5 years?

Digital health has grown immensely in the last year since the pandemic began and I feel it’s a boon to the patients especially in such conditions when the patients are not able to step out and get proper medical care and definitely it will continue to grow in a big way over the next five years as it is very convenient for the patients as well as the doctors. In fact, it is even reaching the rural areas where there is so much shortage of doctors and helping people in need.

5. What are your concerns about Digital Health?

My only concern about digital health is that the doctors should not miss out on important findings and called patients for a check-up when they feel it is really required because there are certain diseases that can only be diagnosed on clinical examination and hence can be missed on online consultations.

6. Can you let us know any one application of Digital Health in India which has impressed you?

Well there are multiple platforms of digital health in India that are doing extremely well like Practo or Mfine or Embebo Which is taking healthcare even to the rural areas of India.

7. What is your message for aspiring doctors and the young generation? Which is the best medical college according to you?

Well, my message to the aspiring doctors and the young generation is that you must get into medicine only and only if you are passionate about it as it requires a lot of hard work and a lot of dedication, it will not be easy and you will feel like giving up many times but trust me if you are consistent with your work You will reap the benefits and I must say it is worth it!!

Because there is no job in this world that will give you the satisfaction that you get after treating the patients and the love and blessings that you get from them. I personally form a bond with my patients when I treat them and I like to be available for them as and when they require me and I feel that a little bit of personal touch is very important.

The best medical College in India I feel would definitely be the All India Institute of medical sciences New Delhi but every doctor cannot pass out from that institute so no matter where you pass out from if you are true to your work and you keep upgrading your skills and keep reading you will succeed in life.

8. What does your typical day look like and what do you like to do besides work?

My typical day begins early at 6 o’clock and I love to go through the news in the morning followed by some form of exercise and a healthy breakfast before I go for my work. At work, the day goes by in the OT, the ward and the OPD attending to patients and I am back home by evening that is when I love spending time with my family including my dogs. I love to read and listen to music and watch inspiring movies and shows and travelling to new places which we all currently can’t. I am currently reading Think like a Monk by Jay Shetty.
