Julia Sonali – In Reality, There’s No Such Thing As 'Perfection’ (Model & TV Host From India)

In the modelling industry, there should be much more freedom to carry out themselves without any shame and boundaries Such as skin tones, body shapes, genders these don’t matter if we have the passion, talent, dedication to doing what we love because fashion and beauty are all about everything we can’t just limit it but showing something like structured perfection.

Tell us about your background and journey.

Let’s start like this, I started this journey in 2016 as a Kids TV presenter just after high school so it was quite hard for me to build a proper space in this industry since I had no connections rather than work hard on what I’m passionate about .

So I kept reminding myself no matter how hard it is will always keep trying, keep practising, and never going to give up.

I’m always good at working hard on what I believe. So yeah I’m a delight to say right now I’m a Tv Host for one of the best leading broadcasting networks in Sri Lanka plus I’m working as a commercial model and a runaway model as well.

What inspired you to pursue modelling as a career?

Actually, It’s hard to explain, will try to make it short and sweet. I always wanted to be a supermodel since I was a kid who’s about to start dreaming about her future but the issue was I had a bulky figure back then there was no one to talk about and inspire us about how to be confident with what we got without being shame on that and there was no any trend like plus models and all so all I got to do was if I want to be a model then I have to lose my weight and I did it I work so hard so much of satisfactions, rejections and finally, I made it. In my life there are no jackpot moments always it’s my hard work and sacrifices.

So those pains, heartbreaks, and experiences are the guidelines for me to choose what I’m doing right now.

What changes do you wish to have in the modelling industry?

In the modelling industry, there should be much more freedom to carry out themselves without any shame and boundaries such as skin tones, body shapes, genders these don’t matter if we have the passion, talent, dedication to doing what we love because fashion and beauty are all about everything we can’t just limit it but showing something like structured perfection.

There’s nothing like perfection. Your perspective might be totally different from mine but everything should be under discipline. Discipline matters.

How important is social media validation in your profession?

Social media validity for any profession comprises many factors, strategies, and tactics, but all of them share a common end goal to get more people to know about themselves, or to showcase their talent. That’s good in a way because it’s kind of the easiest and massive way to gain your own audience but in everything, there are two sides so don’t let social media fool you sometimes.

For me, believe in yourself is more important than endless worries about what others think of you. Value yourself and others will value you. Validation is best that comes from within, I guess.

What is your idea or mantra for staying fit or healthy?

Simply health is wealth. It’s the magical door for many opportunities Without being fit no one would be able to do anything no matter how talented or powerful you are.

Just love your body and give it what it needs, All you got to do is start the rest will come, strive for progress not perfect just do everything for yourself because enough peace and a healthy life is a new success.

What are your other interests?

I’m fascinated by music, Movies, especially about Nature and many more also I’m good at cooking so whenever I get some free time, I don’t forget to try out new recipes.
