Influencers use their platform or multiple platforms to motivate their followers to purchase products and services from brands and companies they’re working with.

Tell us about your background and journey.

I am 42, Happily Married and mom of 2 teens. Born, brought up in Delhi, India and shifted to Dubai 7 years ago. By profession, I am a Lead Auditor in QMS and used to work as a Quality Auditor in a Swiss company but due to some health issues, I quit my work and currently enjoying my life as a homemaker.

What led you to start your page on Instagram, and what is it about?

I started this page to give a surprise to my husband on his Birthday as he always wanted me to do something on social media with my cooking skills. But I avoided, thinking there are already so many talented people, how I will create my space.

But when everyone who visited our place advised me to open my page on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube, I gave it a good thought. And then in September 2019 I finally started my page on Instagram

Initially, this page was only for my recipes. Then with the same name, I opened on Facebook as well and then in April 2020, I started my YouTube Channel as well. But gradually many restaurants and Many brands contacted me for collaboration and reviews. And then a home chef turned into a full-time blogger.

How would you distinguish the term blogger from an influencer?

A blogger is someone who manages a blog. They produce content that readers can use to enrich their lives by solving problems or gaining knowledge on a specific topic. Text, images, or video, whatever form of content a blogger puts out, they should be useful and relevant.

Influencers use their platform or multiple platforms to motivate their followers to purchase products and services from brands and companies they’re working with.
But Bloggers often review products and services in their niche that they use and like. As their popularity grows, companies may offer to sponsor blogger-created content, I count myself as a Blogger who turned into Social Media Influencer.

Is it financially sustainable to be an influencer today?

Frankly, financially sustainable as a blogger in UAE is not that easy the way it looks. There are many regulations here as You need an NMC license for paid blogging and Buying a License in Dubai cost you a lot. But you can do Barter Promotion in exchange for stuff from Brands.

Reaching a certain level takes its own time. All you need to give quality content and more than 100% hard work. But yes with hard work and dedication you can turn blogging into a full-time career.

What do you think influences consumer behaviour?

I believe it's how your relationship is with your followers. No one will buy anything just because you are asking them to buy. The consumer will buy when they trust your suggestion when they trust your words. When you give them enough reasons to buy.

They should feel the suggestion is genuine.

And such kind of trust comes with time. That's why your relationship with your followers and how you treat them matters a lot.

What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?

Well, a success mantra is like a state of mind.

You become what you think about most of the time, and so when you repeat your mantra to yourself, you are reminding yourself to maintain your positivity and to not give up.

For example, if you keep telling yourself that you can do it, what you are really doing is encouraging yourself to keep it going.

Just change your thinking, your feelings, your decisions, your actions in a positive manner and leave the results on God.

How can someone become a successful social media influencer?

There is no fixed mantra of success. Everyone works differently and with their own style and comfort zone. Frankly, I am still searching for this mantra, But one thing I always believe that content is king. When you give 200%to your work, sooner or later success is Yours.
