Sonali - Interact With the Audience, Ask Questions and Use Relevant Hashtags (Blogger From India)

Interact with the audience, ask questions and use relevant hashtags and please don’t promote those products which you won’t use personally it can be misleading to many.

Tell us about your background and journey.

Simple girl with a zeal for climbing to the top. I am from Delhi, India. Currently running Instagram. So, I am Techie by profession and an influencer by choice.

This all started during last year’s lockdown when I actually started working hard on this. I didn’t know how to cook but like always you can’t really be dependent on people to cook for you. I started with then trending Dalgona Coffee and later started with cooking Cheesy Macaroni to Cajun Spiced Potatoes and so on.

One thing that kept me trying new dishes was my family’s constant support who guided me like a mentor and appreciated me when I actually cooked something really nice. Clicking pictures of what I used to cook and saving them to my gallery became a constant habit.

What led you to start your page on Instagram, and what is it about?

You know the constant zeal of doing something different from 9 to 5 job was always there but I wasn’t sure about what and how to do it.

I would say it was not at all a cakewalk but you know when you truly enjoy doing something it is never a burden to you. I started this as a hobby but it became my passion, I created my Instagram page just like that during lockdown last year and randomly use it to post pictures of my dishes.

One day I got a message from a well known FMGC brand about collaboration that time I hardly had 1000 followers.

When no one appreciated what I used to do on Instagram this brand actually messaged me regarding, how they liked my work and wanted to work with me and I was like oh my god, is this really happening?

That was a push for me to keep going forward and maybe I am on a right track and things started following into place.

I also started experimenting with my page keeping food as my niche I tried different genre like Beauty, Lifestyle and accordingly brands approached.

Today I proudly say, I have collaborated with brands like Kopiko, Bioderma, Mothersparsh, ITC, HoiPure, Vezlay, QuakerOats Momsco, Mamaearth to name a few.

How would you distinguish the term blogger from an influencer?

Now, this is a bit tricky but let me put it this way. Blogger creates their own interactive content with their thought, genre and expresses it in the best way possible.

The influencer has a slightly larger audience base so the interaction is much wider. Also, the content is made accordingly and they have certain metrics to keep a track of, I believe in a way bloggers are also influencers.

Is it financially sustainable to be an influencer today?

Well, let me be honest in this. Initially it took time to create my own market value but gradually it happened. With Digital Marketing coming in it has more stable.

Also, with everything going online it might become one of the trending jobs in the market. I know few influencers who are doing so well already. Make your work speak for you.

What do you think influences consumer behaviour?

Facts and Transparency between the consumers and the brand is very important. Gone are the days when good pictures or just by endorsing certain products by your favourite actor/ actress would make a consumer buy the products. Consumer these days are well aware of everything.

So in that case as an influencer, it becomes our responsibility to promote something by putting ourselves in the customer’s shoes also keeping in my mind the ethics of the brands we are working with.

What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?

“Trust your crazy side always, don’t look for permission and opinions”
I always remember these lines from Hamlet by Williams Shakespeare “ we know what we are but not know what we may be”.

How can someone become a successful social media influencer?

Success comes eventually, be confident, consistent and creative and most importantly love what you do and eventually it will reciprocate.

Always trust yourself and have patience. Initially, people might not support you but as you step up in your game those opinions will not matter to you.

The key point to remember here is:-

Interact with the audience, ask questions and use relevant hashtags and please don’t promote those products which you won’t use personally it can be misleading to many.

Which is your favourite book and why?

I am not into books but a few days back I have started reading “Life’ s amazing secrets” by Gaur Gopal Das. It is very important to keep a balance between things and have a happy balanced life, that’s what I am trying to figure out.
