Abhinav Sharma - I Think We’re All Born With Infinite Talent and Potential (Actor From India)

I think we’re all born with infinite talent and potential, so it’s all about applying ourselves to our purpose. If you wish to pursue something, train yourself, hone your craft, work with the motive to give.

Tell us about your background and journey.

I was born in Janak Puri, New Delhi and did my schooling and undergrad in Delhi as well before going to New York for Drama School.

My parents and my family have been my guiding lights since the beginning so I’m forever grateful to them for being wherever I am today and wherever I may be in the future.

Did you ever think or dream of being an actor?

I think was more of an intuitive and instinctive decision, I started doing plays and performing in school and felt a sense of belonging and love while performing. I felt safe and thrilled at the same time so it just felt right.

That along with the push of my theatre and spiritual guide/guru and my family helped me gain confidence in this choice.

How can one approach their career and have the confidence and belief to become an actor?

I think we’re all born with infinite talent and potential, so it’s all about applying ourselves to our purpose. If you wish to pursue something, train yourself, hone your craft, work with the motive to give.

These are things that I’m constantly trying to work on myself so belief and confidence will always come with perseverance, hard work, faith and love.

If not this, what would you be doing?

I think something to do with travelling or maybe another art form, I’m heavily inclined towards the idea of leaving behind a life that gave through the work.

For a complete outsider with inroads, what advice would you like to give?

Never give up, try not to compare your journey with anyone else’s, work with good people, be kind to those around you, people will always want to collaborate with you when they know you have a good heart and pure intention with an immense drive towards working on your craft.

And call your mom or a family member every day, Prayers go a long way.

What is your mantra of success?

If at the end of it all your heart and soul are happy and you know you’ve given it your all, success becomes a by-product.

Which is your favourite book and why?

I love Kafka On The Shore by Haruki Murakami. There’s a sense of belonging, freedom, life, colour and metaphorical brilliance attached to it and pretty much everything that man writes.
