I launched my podcast called "Nutrition 101 with Aymen Subhani" in hopes to achieve a larger audience and help more people this way since most people think Nutrition is a luxury only rich people can afford or do which is not true.
Tell us more about yourself and your profession.
I am a dietitian and a nutritionist by profession. I have a masters degree in Nutrition and dietetics. 'Dietitians are the health professionals who are trained to implement and change dietary habits of an individual; be that person disease-specific or not.
I took my training from Bahria International Hospital after completing my studies for about a year and post-covid I work online on social media mostly via Instagram where I have more than 64k followers. My Instagram username is @livingwellwithaymen.
I have already been featured in many top-notch magazines of Pakistan.
I share nutrition-related infographics and I deal with hundreds of client and send them a customized diet plan which is tailored accordingly for them. I am an expert at what I do and I can say this proudly.
Sometimes I also provide free consultation on Instagram to my followers who cannot afford a dietitian because I don't want them asking questions from the wrong person aka non-professionals.
Recently I launched my podcast called "Nutrition 101 with Aymen Subhani" in hopes to achieve a larger audience and help more people this way since most people think Nutrition is a luxury only rich people can afford or do which is not true.
Can't wait to do so much more and leave a mark on this world!
What is your fitness mantra?
I believe in complete holistic nutrition. It's my fitness mantra.
Nutrition, exercise, stress, environment and genetics come hand in hand when it comes to the well-being of an individual. If even one of these is disturbed; all of these will be affected.

So if you want to improve your health, you need to work on these all.
What are some of the major misconceptions about diets and exercises?
Some of the top major misconceptions about diet include:
Some of the top major misconceptions about diet include:
a) It's okay if you cut out carbs from your diet just to lose weight.
It's not okay when you're cutting an entire macronutrient that your body depends on just so you can fit in places that you weren't able to before both physically and mentally. Unless you have a medical condition that requires you to cut a certain food item; "You don't have to".
b) Detox drinks are magical drinks.
No. Not a thing. Detox drinks are nothing but electrolyte water that you can drink to replace the electrolytes you lost while sweating if you were engaged in any physical activity or it's a drink you can enjoy to quench that thirst in summers. Your kidneys, livers and sweat do all the detoxification your body needs.
c) What worked for your friend, will work for you too.
Absolutely not. There's only a 20% chance that what worked for your friend will help you lose/ gain weight too. Everybody is different and they require different amounts of calories and you can't possibly hope to kill all birds with one stone.
d) Sugar is bad for you.
Nope. Eat everything but in moderation.
Misconceptions about exercise include:
a) If you exercise after a binge episode you will compensate for the extra calories you ate. You won't. 1 binge episode will not make you gain weight. Relax, pick yourself up and move on. Watch and portion the food you eat next. Do not starve yourself. Do not over-exercise to punish yourself for eating an extra cookie or that slice of cheesy pizza you love so much.
b) The more you exercise hard, the leaner you get.
Really worth the torture you're going to put your body through every day for 3, 4 hours? Exercise should be a celebration to see what your body is capable of doing! It should be about improving your health and not about just weight loss or weight gain.
How can one maintain a healthy lifestyle?
One can maintain a healthy lifestyle by eating mindfully and including all food groups in the diet. Do not skip a food group unless you have a medical condition that needs you to restrict certain food types. For example, avoiding gluten if you have gluten intolerance or avoiding dairy on dairy intolerance.
Exercising regularly while managing your diet can keep you fit and will help you reduce the risk of diseases.

Being socially present, emotionally available and mentally stable is also the trick to living a healthy lifestyle and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity.
You need to figure out which traits of these you're not strong at and work with a health professional and work towards achieving your goals for betterment.
How can one build a successful career in your field?
I've said this many times, I'll say it again. Always know what you're talking about. You have to have complete knowledge about your field. Always keep reading new books, speak up about the new trendy diet which you know is absolute BS.
It's no shame in not knowing something and asking for help. Do a group study, take quizzes and discuss topics you're good at. You will always learn something new.
If you're thinking you don't have to learn anything right now, you're wrong. You have got to start early, make notes, learn them by heart because when you go for practice in a hospital, you need to know about these things you will not do good. Be prepared. Make a short notebook of MNTs. It will help you with quick revision at the time of your internship or training.
When you know that now you're capable of calling yourself a proper Dietitian and not just because you have a degree, but because you actually have a grip on everything you're supposed to know; it's time to step out of your comfort zone and make a presence online. Create your account. Show the world what nutrition and health are really all about.
What is one piece of advice you would like to give someone who wishes to lose weight?
My number one tip to someone who wants to lose weight is don't google or seek answers from a celebrity or an influencer with zero nutrition education background. Just because they lost weight or have a million following online they are not the experts.
Seek help from professionals. That is Dietitian for diet and Trainer for exercise.
Calorie deficit and exercise is the only proper way to lose weight. Just portion your food and eat mindfully. Fix whatever is stressing you out. If need be, talk to a psychiatrist. No shame in asking for help.
How do diets and exercise contribute to overall well being and happiness?
Diet and exercise go hand in hand when it comes to the overall well being of a person.
There's always dietary and exercise modifications for a person who is disease-specific. For example cardio and limit salt intake for the HBP patients.
So why wait until we develop a disease to start a proper healthy diet and exercise? Why not now? To celebrate life. To try and build our immunity so we can protect ourselves from any diseases we would normally be prone to?
Exercise will help you manage your stress as well as physically making you strong.
The rush of the adrenaline is unreal when it comes to how invincible we feel after exercising and the happiness we feel after eating a healthy meal.
Now let's be clear. Eating a healthy meal does not mean that you can not enjoy pizza or fries or ice cream.

When your diet is properly calorie-controlled by a dietitian or even by yourself if you know a little about Nutrition, All foods fit. You eat everything and still lose weight. Or achieve whatever weight goal you may have.
