Bhamini has explored a broad spectrum of the entertainment industry. Her experience by far has been the epitome of versatility. Being an active part of the theatre world for over 2 decades, she also has adequate television experience.

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

It all started in school. I used to perform in all the assemblies in school every year, either a skit or a dance or a solo act. I used to create a story, gather my team, and perform for the school. it was the best time. I found it very interesting and exciting every time I went on stage.

I loved the whole idea of entertaining people since then. But wasn't thinking to take it up as a profession until 2001. As a child, I always wanted to become a cardiac surgeon but my SSC score didn't allow me to get into medicals so I changed my mind to become a chartered accountant, and then finally a lawyer. I studied law.

Meanwhile, I started getting offers for Gujarati plays and I was enjoying my work to the core. It was a very difficult task to get my family convinced for me to take up acting as a profession. But somehow I managed, for the fact that I was living every moment I was on stage.

Almost all the characters I have played so far have been different and that there is the excitement intact every time. One project led to another and I have been blessed to get good work so far. It's been 21 years and I am loving my job.

2. How can one approach their career and have the confidence and belief to become an actor?

We don't have a standard approach to get into this profession as such. it's very subjective. Everyone has his/her own journey towards it. I started with theatre and I strongly believe that theatre is the foundation.

Theatre taught me the discipline of honesty and consistency every time I am on stage or in front of a camera. Confidence comes with repeated attempts.

3. If not this, what would you be doing?

If not an actor, I would be working as a criminal lawyer.

4. For a complete outsider with inroads, what advice would you like to give?

Passion. It's the single most driving force on earth. If there's enough of it in you, then leave no stone unturned to embrace it. It doesn't matter outsider/insider. All that matters is clarity of purpose and the willpower to follow through. But there's another thing called serendipity: the chance discovery of what you love.

If you happen to chance upon either of it, with patience and pursuance, things will happen. In the end, you may or may not shine in the spotlight, but you will sleep with a smile you did your best to make it happen.

5. Which is your favourite book and why?

There are many but one book I would like to mention is "WHO MOVED MY CHEESE?". it tells me to constantly adapt to the changes in life. as they say, 'CHANGE IS THE ONLY CONSTANT THING.' NEVER GET SETTLED. And only with change comes growth, comes transformation.
