Brazil Protests Against Bolsonaro While Fighting Against the COVID-19 Pandemic

 

Covid-19 pandemic has made our world more and more vulnerable. Gone were the days when people were free from the barriers of mask, sanitizers and social distancing.

As we all were living freely in a pre covid world, where holding hands and hugging a friend was normal. But in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic our world came across to a new normal. Who ever imagined that shaking hands to anyone or hugging can become deadly?

No one has ever thought that due to such nano meter particle this whole world would be confined inside their home and computer screens, or due to such minutest particle millions of people would die.

But on the wake of this pandemic our normal life got transferred into a restriction based one and today we are living with a new normal.

Several countries from USA to France are facing this brutal crisis. But the condition of Brazil is literally worse. The condition at present has gone so out of control that now Brazil is considered as the laboratory of several variants of Covid-19.

Jair Bolsonaro

Jair Messias Bolsonaro is a Brazilian politician and retired military officer. He served Brazil as its 38 President. He was elected in 2018 as a leader of the conservative Social Liberal Party. From 1991 to 2018, he served in Brazil's Chamber of Deputies, representing the state of Rio de Janeiro.

Presently he is accused of spreading Covid-19 in his country. According to locals he is not providing proper public health and education facilities, moreover he is also reluctant to Vaccination Drive.

Presently Brazil is facing brutal Covid-19 conditions, due to which people are against him.

Brazil and Covid-19

Brazil is one of the countries which are brutally hit by the Covid-19 pandemic. Till now this South American country has faced 1.67 crore cases and approximately half a million deaths. 

The conditions are becoming more and more deadly. Presently Brazil faces 63,000 cases every week. Knowing that economic standing and the healthcare infrastructure of this country I hope you can evaluate the condition Brazil is facing currently.

Where in the world several countries like USA, France are lifting the lockdown and returning back to life, why this western nation Brazil is still stuck in the dilemma of Covid-19.

We all have to agree that Covid-19 has made a vicious circle around us and it can only be crossed if we all are cautious, secondly if government is taking initiative and effectively working on health sector.

Thousands of people protested against Brazilian president Bolsonaroon Saturday in Rio and capital Brasilia.

Protesters are calling for impeachment and then criticize his handling of the pandemic. The protestors blamed the president for downplaying the virus with thousands still dying every day.

 

Protests

At the beginning of the epidemic, Jair Bolsonaro dismissed Covid-19 as a “little flu" and as the death toll rose he continued to anger people in other ways. 

Protesting against measures to stay at home with masks, dispensing ineffective drugs, refusing to be vaccinated and inability to anticipate oxygen deficiency that has left patients paralyzed.

Enraged by such acts of Jair Bolsonaro Tens thousands of people raised up there voice against him and called all his acts unethical. Not only in the capital city but in several areas of Brazil protesters came up with only demand of removal of Jair Bolsonaro.

The protesters blamed the president for downplaying the virus with thousands still dying every day and for taking too long to start in vaccination camping. People came up with posters comparing Bolsonaro to Adolf Hitler and accusing him of genocide.

According to locals instead of making Brazil international example, government has made Brazil a lab of new virus strains. Bolsonaro also refused to take Vaccine and also threatened local government which imposed lockdown.

Moreover a week ago Bolsonaro organized a bike rally in Rio de Janerio gathering crowd and scorning the masks. Bolsonaro is on the campaign trail and planning more of the same.

Rallies during this adverse time would not only lead to many deaths but also brutally hit the medical system of the country which is already very vulnerable.

One of the protester said “We should all be at home keeping ourselves safe but we have reached a point where we can no longer remain silent.

Have to show the world that we are against bolsonaro's denailism if we continue to keep quiet while he is holding release all over Brazil it will seem like Brazilians are complicit with his attitude and we are not”.

This shows that how people of Brazil are completely enraged with the acts of their own leader. Protesters are asking for many things like better public education, public health facilities for vaccines, etc. Also asking for illegal mining to stop on indigenous lands but they all want in common is Bolsonaro's impeachment.

What if we say India is also in a similar condition? But the reality is in front of us all due to lack of proper healthcare facilities and stringency India has to face the darkest phase of Covid-19.
