1. Tell us about your background and journey.

So I was born and brought up in Delhi and I have done both my graduation and post graduation diploma in journalism. Since the beginning, I was into trying out new things and just like every second person, I wasn’t really sure of what I wanted to do with my life.

After trying my hands on different fields like social media, NGO, content writing, and failing in each of them, I got frustrated with myself. My then “safe and secure” job was driving me crazy because it wasn’t something I wanted to build my future into.

Yet I couldn't leave the job without having another offer in hand because that’s how it should be, right? And hence I started taking different hobbies–learning French, painting and creating content on Instagram. This became the turning point of my life. Months after trying to survive in a job I hated, I finally gave up and resigned. I took time to figure out myself, my wants, my dreams and my life.

Meanwhile I kept working on my Instagram to grow it more and more. And that’s when I realised this is what I want to keeping doing my entire life, entertain people. I focussed my energy completely on my content creation and surprisingly one day I got an interview call from Red FM Delhi because they liked my content. And currently I am doing what I love–working as Assistant Producer at Red FM and creating content on my Instagram.

2. What led you to start your Blog and what is it about?

Honestly I started creating content on Instagram out of boredom. I just wanted to create content and wasn’t sure of its genre. So I tried doing self portraits which got decent response but then I made one funny reel and I saw much better response on it.

Then I started making funny content and slowly my account started growing and now we are a 10k family! So if you ever want to lighten up your head with some comedy you can visit my Instagram account - @mehakvachher

3. Is it financially sustainable to be an digital creator these days?

I think it depends on what kind of content you are posting. Obviously a food blogger or a fashion blogger has to invest their money on different equipment, settings, resources but for an entertainer like me, we require skills for creating content and just a recording device with a decent sound and video quality.

4. How can someone become a successful content creator?

Success of social media is divided into two parts- more followers and more appreciation which are basically other terms for quantity and quality. So if you are measuring it by number of followers then I don't think I can help someone with that as I am still a budding creator.

On the other hand if you are looking for appreciation and engagement then please follow on your content. Observe what your audience likes, take out the statistics and compare the insights of different days/months/posts and use appropriate hashtags and captions.

You should never keep repeating one type of content else people will think you are not creative so keep experimenting. The last advice would be to trust yourself and your content because if you don’t trust your own skills then how would you expect someone else to appreciate them?

5. How and where do you find inspiration to churn out content?

My inspiration for content comes from daily life conversations. I am sure that what I hear around is something a large chunk of audiences would hear around them too. So, I keep picking up topics/incidents that are relatable to mass and not a niche set of followers.

6. Who is your favourite creator and why?

My favourite creator is an Egyptian content creator @maisvault as she is not monotonous, her content has a wide range and yet has a thread that keeps all of her posts connected. She has wit, humour and her expressions are just on point!

7. Which is your favourite book and why?

One of my favourite books is Stolen by Lucy Christopher and that is because the story has many unexpected turns in it. You start reading it like it’s a family novel, after a few chapters it becomes a crime thriller, then it changes into a love story and ends with a mental illness. In addition, this book is a reminder that not every special feeling that you get with someone is love and we shouldn't confuse some other feeling with it.
