Content creation is one of the most exciting, enthralling yet exhaustive jobs. It goes way beyond just posting a picture or shooting a video. It’s all about connecting with your community / your audience. Establishing a connection with them by creating awareness, entertaining them, motivating them, or inspiring them.
1. Tell us about your background and journey.
Hi! My name is Miti Shah. I am 20 years old, a student & blogger from Mumbai. If I had to describe myself in 3 words - I would say, positive, bubbly & outgoing. I absolutely love being in front of the camera & am very expressive which led towards blogging & content creation, an art that allows me to share my experiences with people in the most creative way.
My journey with social media began when I started interning with a prominent fashion influencer. This experience allowed me to learn so many new things but most importantly, it gave me the courage to start my own page and share something that I am passionate about.
2. What led you to start your blog and what is it about?
My blog - The Youth Brigade (@theyouthbrigade_) is a mentorship & motivation connoisseur. I started this about 9 months back, with just one thought - I want to be a mentor for the youth of our country, someone I wish I had & could relate to / seek advice from when I started my professional journey.
Thus, my page is always talking about anything that can prove to be valuable for the people around me, especially youngsters - be it helping them find internships, teaching them new editing tips, guiding them through their career paths, or even giving them the right dose of motivation. It’s your all-in-one guide for motivation, mentorship, academics, career guidance, skill - building & personal development!
3. Is it financially sustainable to be a digital creator these days?
Yes, yes, yes! This digital age is proof that if you really put your heart into sharing something that you’re passionate about (and are good at) on social media, it will be rewarding. Although I still have a lot of these targets to achieve, through my knowledge about this industry and its working, I can confidently state that becoming a digital/content creator, influencer, or blogger (whatever your niche may be) is a career with great monetary scope & growth.
4. How can someone become a successful content creator?
Content creation is one of the most exciting, enthralling yet exhaustive jobs. It goes way beyond just posting a picture or shooting a video. It’s all about connecting with your community / your audience. Establishing a connection with them by creating awareness, entertaining them, motivating them, or inspiring them.
Two things that can make you a successful content creator are
1.Consistency &
2. Love / Genuineness towards what you create.
Consistency forms the base of your journey & the stronger the base, the better the outcome. When you actually love whatever you are sharing/creating & are genuine about it, social media will automatically love it and want more of it. The formula is simple but requires lots of dedication!
5. How and where do you find inspiration to churn out content?
I seek inspiration from my community and my experiences. I always put myself in my audience's shoes & try to think like them - what would they need, what is something that can be value-adding for them, what type of content would make them actually save a post or share it with a friend?
And there, you have your answers! Apart from this, I go back to the time when I started and remind myself of the things that I needed, whether it was finding websites, discovering my passion, or even working on my skills. Creativity is a flow & there definitely are times when I feel completely unmotivated and am unable to create something, but then again, this is all a part of the process, especially when you love what you do!
6. Who is your favorite creator and why?
Two of my most favorite creators have definitely got to be - Ranveer Allahabadia (BeerBiceps) and Masoom Minawala. Ranveer, his honesty, relatability & his perception of almost everything, makes him so inspiring. And as for Masoom, her genuineness, style & commitment towards her community, makes her one of the best in the fashion blogging space.
Their individual journeys have been so captivating and it’s really amazing to see how gracefully the two of them have earned a strong name for themselves & for our country, in their respective domains. I hope to be there someday too!
7. Which is your favorite book and why?
I recently read the book Lean In, by Sherly Sandberg, COO of Facebook & it has made its way to the list of my favorite reads. Quite frankly, I am not an avid reader but I loved this book because of its strong message on finding your purpose, understanding the harsh reality of life & still standing up for yourself and what you believe in.
