During his visit is when Cameron first sets his eyes on Bianca Stratford, a lovely, beautiful, bubbly sophomore. She is looking for a nice guy to date. Unless one problem arrives, Bianca has an uptight father and she is not allowed to date till graduation.
Furthermore, nor is her "vixen" sister, Katarina, a senior who loves independent stone and women's activist exposition and loathes congruence. She loves to listen Indie Rock, feminist prose and hates boys and conformity.
Kat is tough, independent, opinionated, and does not fear anyone. However, Kat and Bianca's dad changes his home principle: presently, Bianca can date, however long Kat has a date, as well.
Father knows that Kat hates boys and will not date any soon and then Bianca will also not be able to date. Now Bianca cannot question him, instead now her problem is Kat. Presently, with the goal for Cameron to date Bianca, he needs to discover somebody to date Kat.
So Michael assists him with enrolling the assistance of pretty-kid/jerk/model Joey Donner, who also wants to take Bianca out, to win a bet with his friend, who challenges him if he could take her out. Cameron and Michael fool him into believing that he will take Bianca out in the event that he pays somebody to take out Kat.
Patrick Verona, an awful kid with a baffling standing - some say he ate a live duck once, others that he lit a state trooper ablaze, and surprisingly more case that he had a concise pornography vocation.
He was chosen for Kat cause other boys chickened out and some could not have stood in front of her strong personality. Now in the series of events of dating Kat just for money, Patrick and Kat realise they have fallen for each other.
Character Analysis of Kat And Patrick: Different and Mysterious
We come across Kat as a person who sees everything from her own perspective. She has her own opinion even on Shakespeare. She does not get affected by what other people think of her whereas Bianca says she likes to be liked by other people.
She doesn't like to do what others expect her to do. She likes to do things she thinks are best for herself and likes to live her life on her own terms. Be it fighting with her father to go to a new school, or the part when she decides to go out with Patrick. She knows what she wants.
But from her strong exterior we see her emotional side when she is worried about her sister planning on dating Joey Donner whom Kat loathes. Joey once dated Kat and dumped her cause she wasn't ready to have sex with him.
So we see her being protective of Bianca and her being bleary eyes in the classroom when she reads her feelings for Patrick and how she was in love with him and then hurt.
Patrick (Heath Ledger) comes across as a handsome, hunk, cool and a leather-jacket guy, who is tough and can handle Katarina. He does not seem like someone who cares about girls, but he certainly cared about Kat.
He refused to drunkenly kiss Kat. he tried to make up for it by singing ‘cant take my eyes off of you’ in front of the whole school. He felt guilty when Kat got to know the truth and realised he loved her.

“I hate the way you talk to me, And the way you cut your hair.
I hate the way you drive my car, I hate it when you stare.
I hate your big dumb combat boots And the way you read my mind.
I hate you so much it makes me sick, It even makes me rhyme.
I hate the way you're always right, I hate it when you lie.
I hate it when you make me laugh, Even worse when you make me cry.
I hate it when you're not around, And the fact that you didn't call.
But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you, Not even close, Not even a little bit, Not even at all.”
Conclusion - The Bottom Line
Clearly the plot is cliche however the excellent cast and the amazing dialogues of the movie is the charm that sets it apart from the rest of the movies in the same genre. So it is the witty-yet-sweet dialogues and the A1 actors that make this movie different from the other high school romantic comedies.
