1. Tell us more about your background and journey.
Being a daughter of a fashion designer, I was exposed to the fashion industry. I used to walk the ramp with celebs, interact with them, attend fashion weeks. Since inception fashion & glamour was ingrained in me which made me what I am today.
I have my own styling company & a designer label. Styled celebs like Kashmera Shah, Vikas Gupta, Sidharth Shukla, Kamya Panjabi, Aasiya Kazi, Karan Mehra, Madhurima Tuli, Pearl V Puri, Kanchi Singh, Munmun Dutta, Vishal Aditya Singh, etc.
2. How did you get started working as a celebrity fashion stylist?
My first project was with Shraddha Aarya for Khatra Khatra Khatra, followed by styling singer Akriti Kakar, then assisted in War movie n the journey went on!
3. What's your approach when you first start styling someone? Do you ask questions, go through their closet?
Firstly, I get to understand their body type around which the complete styling evolves. Then there are certain things like their styling preference, skin tone, what event are they going for, day/night, place of the shoot, etc, which a stylist needs to keep in mind before curating a look.
4. What are some of your top styling tips?
- Remember, what looks good on-ramp or television won't necessarily look good on you. So, opt for silhouettes that suit your body proportion, skin tone, etc.
- Always be comfortable with what you wear.
- An outfit should be properly fitted- not too tight or too loose.
- Coordinate the look well, try to hide your flaws
- Wearing short dresses won't make you a fashion icon, you should know what & when to wear them.
5. What's the most fun part of your job?
Behind the scenes fun- one of the incidents I remember which took place recently. It was an early morning shoot, my cell phone was on silent mode as usual and I was getting prepared to leave for the shoot, there were plenty of calls from d celeb as all the outfits, accessories, etc was with me.
On the other end, the whole unit was tensed. I reached on the sets, everybody ran towards me saying she has come and I was totally blank. We all laughed at the whole situation.
6. What does your typical workday look like?
It's not a 9-5 job. There are no fixed working hours for us & that's exactly what makes it a challenging one. After trials things are assorted & packed for the shoot day with all the minor detailings. Leave for the location so as to reach early n set the stuff in the vanity accordingly as per the shots.
During the shoot, we have to keep monitoring the outfit and adjust them if needed. After the wrapup, we have to check for the stuff, repack it. The whole day is hectic but funfilled too. As we enjoy the best moments, meals & some chit chat together.
Yashasvi Singh is a celebrity fashion stylist/designer. Worked for reality shows like Biggboss13, Khatra Khatra Khatra, Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah, etc. Also assisted in War movie starring Tiger Shroff n Hritik Roshan. Styled celebs like Kashmera Shah, Sidharth Shukla, Kamya Panjabi, Dalljiet Kaur, Vikas Gupta, Tina Dutta, Asgish Sharma, Ankita Lokhande, Kanchi Singh, Pearl V Puri, Karan Mehra, Munmun Dutta, Vishal Aditya Singh, Shraddha Aarya, Lakshya Handa, Nishant Singh, Riddhima Pandit, etc.
She has also styled well-known singers like Sona Mohapatra & Aakriti Kakar. Styled Palak Sidhwani (Sonu- TMKOC) for Nickelodeon Kids choice awards & Nishant Singh Malkani for Dream Achiever's Award, Rohan Mehra for Zee Music song Mai hoon Tera.
