Aarti Mahajan - Social Media Helped Me Evolve Into a More Creative Person (Blogger From India)

Social media helped me to evolve my creator skills and literally helped me to generate a good volume of business. People started following my page and I kept them motivated to do workouts regularly. I literally educated my audience about the importance of health & fitness in their life.

Tell us about your background and journey.

I am from Jammu(Jammu & Kashmir). I am a management graduate & working in an MNC as a Financial Management Trainee. But destiny had some different plans for me. Within 6 months I realised that this is what I didn’t want to do throughout my life.

I wanted to explore more so I quit my job & started my own Startup: Shape ‘n’ Smile - The Fitness Studio in the year 2009. Now I am a certified fitness instructor, An Event Organiser & a Social Media Influencer.

When did you decide that you wanted to create content professionally and what are its benefits in your life?

In 2009, When all my friends & family were using Facebook as their source of entertainment & Socialising, I used it as a tool or say a platform to reach out to my target audience and boost my Business. I enhanced my brand through Social media by promoting our services consistently. Social media helped me to evolve my creator skills and literally helped me to generate a good volume of business. People started following my page and I kept them motivated to do workouts regularly. I literally educated my audience about the importance of health & fitness in their life.

Then After 5 years, in the year 2014, I made an account on Instagram and started sharing my daily life. People started following that too and they felt more connected with my personal account as it had a real face, not just a logo. So I started promoting my business through my personal account also. I had good taste in fashion and beauty too, so people started asking me about the details of my clothing, footwear’s, accessories etc. Then I categorised my account as a Lifestyle Influencer where I talk about Fashion, Fitness, beauty & Daily Motivation. After working hard & consistently over the years I started receiving good brand collaborations. So it’s another source of income for me apart from my Studios & Events.

How has the pandemic affected you?

Last year In lockdown I became more active on Instagram & Facebook so I realised an incredible growth of my Social media following. Pandemic really jolted our Studios & Events business but As far as social media is concerned it gave me a positive outcome.

How would you differentiate between the term “Blogger & Influencer”?

Well, I believe that I am both, an influential blogger you can say. Influencers have the power to influence the opinion of people, their purchasing behaviour, whereas bloggers write about their opinions on Various platforms & create content. I write sometimes and people loved that also.

As I know I have the power to influence people so I play very responsibly. It’s a very sensitive job where you need to consider all the factors and be very careful before posting any content. I try to be as genuine as I can be.

Which is your favourite book & why?

My favourite book till now is “The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. “ That book helped me in shaping a positive attitude towards life and taught me how to attract joy and happiness in my life.

“The great secret of life is the law of attraction. The Law of attraction can also be called the law of creation. In other words, life is not happening to you, you are creating it.”
