Alex Dry - I Began My Career At The Age Of 9 As A Professional Dancer & Model, Which Led Me Into The Social Media Space And Fashion Lifestyle (Influencer & Entrepreneur, USA)

 I started working on DripDry in 2019 when I saw a disconnection in the swimsuit industry with accessorizing swimwear styles. This was the start of my mission to create a new style that has not been created which introduces a trendy versatile design that can resonate with all women

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

I've always had a passion and a good sense of the pulse of pop-culture. I began my career at the young age of 9 as a professional dancer and model, which led me into the social media space and fashion lifestyle. 

I moved from Fort Worth, Texas to Los Angeles, California about four years ago and have always wanted to start a fashion brand. I began working on DripDry, my swimsuit line that just launched and available online at www.dripdryswim.com.  

2. How did you come up with this idea and go about executing it?   

I started working on DripDry in 2019 when I saw a disconnection in the swimsuit industry with accessorizing swimwear styles. This was the start of my mission to create a new style that has not been created which introduces a trendy versatile design that can resonate with all women. “I have a strong passion for the fashion industry but also have many sides to the way I dress depending on the occasion or the way i’m feeling that day.

I love to dress up my swimwear with some cute body chains but I also love repping some of my swimwear tops with a pair of leggings, over sized bomber, and Nikes for a sporty look.” DripDry was born into the idea of creating a line that is a quality product at an affordable price but doesn’t limit you to the standard misconception that it can only be worn one way. 

3. What has been your biggest challenge that you faced and how did you overcome that?  

One of the biggest obstacles I have faced in the process to be honest I would have to say is having patience. When designing my brand I did a lot of research and so the uncertainty whether I would get a patent on the design or not was a crazy wave of emotions and anticipation. The second biggest obstacle was finding the right team and manufactures who shared the same vision. Starting DripDry from scratch it is really important to me that the fit and design is perfected. 

4. What do you think are the most important qualities of a successful entrepreneur?   

Consistency and being persistent in the vision you have. 

5. What are some of the most important factors for running a successful business?   

Creating a plan, perseverance, remaining true to your brand, and maximizing your resources.

6. What are your tips for first time and aspiring entrepreneurs?   

Anything is possible with a clear vision.  

7. How can one overcome a hurdle of lack of funds when starting up? 

It's important to come up with a plan and budget when beginning a business. Once you have your concept there are many ways about getting funding whether it is getting an investor or a loan from a close friend. 

8. Who is your inspiration? 

My dad is my biggest inspiration. He grew up in a low income household and has started over 6 successful businesses. Learning from him and seeing his work ethic has been a huge inspiration to me and one day I want to be able to give back to him for all he has taught me.
