Cheshta Batra - Not All Bloggers Are Influencers, Nor Are All Influencers Bloggers (Content Creator From Panchkula, India)

An influencer is someone with a large following on any social media platform and has the power to “influence” the behaviour and most importantly the “purchase decision” of people. They make money by advertising for brands and persuading people to buy from that brands.

Blogger is a person who writes and creates blogs, whether he is an influencer or not. a blogger earns money through writing and creating blogs both for himself and for others. He can also put affiliate links in his blogs to earn a commission.

Tell us about your background and journey.

Hello Readers, I am Cheshta Batra hailing from Panchkula, India. I have a beautiful family consisting of my Grandfather, Dad, Mum and sister(Me being the youngest and pampered!)

I have done my Btech in Electronics and Instrumentation from Thapar University, Patiala and currently am working as a full-time Cybersecurity professional in an MNC.

Apart from this, I have had a food delivery outlet of my own which unfortunately had to come to a halt due to pandemic and I am a part-time content creator as well and have worked with 100+ brands.

What led you to start your page on Instagram, and what is it about?

I started my page two years back to promote my business but luck has its own way of working out, and now I have a beautiful community of 10k+ people.
In a jist, My page documents my life.

I am very interactive with my audience on the stories and my feed is divided into three main categories: Food, Travel and Lifestyle. I am someone who cannot stick to one single thing and have the curiosity to try out new things every time and my Instagram page proves to be the best platform for it.

How would you distinguish the term blogger from an influencer?

Influencer:
An influencer is someone with a large following on any social media platform and has the power to “influence” the behaviour and most importantly the “purchase decision” of people. They make money by advertising for brands and persuading people to buy from that brands.

Blogger is a person who writes and creates blogs, whether he is an influencer or not. a blogger earns money through writing and creating blogs both for himself and for others. He can also put affiliate links in his blogs to earn a commission.

Not all bloggers are influencers, nor are all influencers bloggers.

Is it financially sustainable to be an influencer today?

It is a growing market for sure but the competition is the toughest presently!
I would suggest keeping doing it as a part-time thing and giving in your best shot and once it finally hits and you bloom, you can always make it your full-time thing as it pays really well once you are at a certain level.

Tip: Never leave your current source of income just to become an influencer/content creator/ blogger because as fancy as it may seem, it requires a lot of hard work, patience, luck and networking.

What do you think influences consumer behaviour?

I really feel you shouldn't fake it because that wouldn't stand a chance in the longer run. Some people just do it for fame/money and give false reviews about brands which ultimately breaks their trust with the consumer.

Be truthful to your work and honest with your audience. Show them the results of a product on you first because "Jo dikhta hai, woh Bikta hai" and hence the consumer would 100 per cent be Influenced rightly.

What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?

My mantras in life :
1) To keep doing your shit and one day you'll surely be rewarded.
2) Never consider rejection as Self-rejection.
3) Always help others, it won't hinder your growth in any way. Everyone's path is different.
4) Don't get disheartened with failures, it is the very first step to success
4) Trust your timing
5) Always be grateful

Also, the power of manifestation is something that I dearly believe in and it has changed my life for good!

How can someone become a successful social media influencer?

Find something which you really like and are good at and then become the best in it.

Give it your all, put in your hard work, do tests and trials, keep experimenting and remember patience is the key. Also, this world can be really overwhelming so don't stress yourself much too! You'll be good.

And if you ask me, I am still learning and will be learning forever because there is no final concrete answer to it.

Which is your favourite book, and why?

"A thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini is my favourite book.
A thought-provoking and mind-blowing read, only the hardest of hearts can fail to move. It is truly an irresistible creation.

A saga of two women fighting against all odds, after having faced them and making us feel behind every burqa there is a human being.
A must-read for everyone!
